A Change.org petition calling on UNICEF to strip pop star Pink of her role as a Goodwill Ambassador has now amassed 138,000 signatures, the latest flashpoint in a broader controversy over celebrity reactions to Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian remarks at a recent Ed Sheeran concert.
The dispute traces back to Sep. 4-5, when Macklemore, opening for Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, told the crowd he wanted people in Gaza and the West Bank to know they had not been forgotten.
He performed his protest song “Hind’s Hall” while wearing a keffiyeh and displaying Gaza-related imagery on the stadium screens. The remarks drew cheers from parts of the crowd, alongside reports of some attendees walking out.
Pink then reposted an Instagram Story from the advocacy group StopAntisemitism criticizing the rapper’s performance and calling for refunds for concertgoers, without adding commentary of her own. The post accused Macklemore of exposing Jewish fans to anti-‘Israel’ propaganda, and it quickly drew accusations of prejudice and calls for a boycott of Pink.

Edit: As a Native American who has been part of the campaign to remove things like “Redmen” and “Redskins” as mascots it pains me to see people not understand yellow and its history. But here is a source since you asked for it.
Of course I’ve heard people using the term yellow in reference to Asian people, but neither of those sources mention cowardice. Calling someone yellow, as in a coward, does not stem from the Asian slur.

We need better terms for calling someone a coward that are not wrapped in bigotry of some sort. Calling someone a pussy? Mysoginy. Calling someone an f-slur? Homophobia. Calling someone a Zionist? Somehow apparently antisemitic, though I would dispute that.
Maybe we should go for the most clear language possible. Complicit, coward, genocide denier. What is happening in Gaza is not a military operation, nor is it peacekeeping or responding to a real threat. It is a genocide and it is being done by the Zionist government of Israel with majority support from the Israeli population. The non-zionist Jews who I know are actively against the genocide and trying to make change here, on the other side of the planet, so clearly we can see the issue is not being Jewish at all, it is being a Zionist, someone who believes that Palestine is not really a country with their own culture and people and is instead full of squatters to the land of the people of the book. It is inherently genocidal and, if the word means anything at all, evil.
We don’t need a solution to the conflict, we need an end to the genocide. How many troops have died? How many civilians? How many children? The culture, history, and lives of the Palestinian people are being actively destroyed and it clearly meets the definition of genocide. We are past debate on this, there is no valid argument, there is no just war here, this is intentional slaughter, pure and simple.
I want an end of the state of Israel but not of its people. I want the people of Israel to begin to open their eyes and see who they have been killing as people, just like them. I want them to feel the grief and horror that all of us can feel, and I want them to feel the internal horror at having supported it. I want them to grow and develop compassion and become better people. I want the state apparatus to be removed and a just government for all to be in place for the whole region, representing all of them together. I have wanted this since I was a child and I first learned about this in high school. 20 years later the only change is things have gotten worse, and with active support from my and other governments around the world.
I know the word pussy has a negative mysogyntic connotation but we could reclaim it as an abbreviation of pussilanimous (which it is not).

People think too much of the UN to claim she’s not in her place there.
It’s neat when we know the UN is imperfect but also the only thing with potential, but some people don’t want to improve it and would rather burn it down.
It is deeply flawed and unfair by design.
It has failed miserably and consistently in pretty much everything it pretended to want to do.
