/r/gunners when KT is injured: oh dear
/r/gunners when Partey is injured: you fking donkey
KT like Partey played for the national team while not fully fit and aggravated the issue. 😂
I get that football hits at our emotions, but TP needed minutes coming back from injury to get his fitness back - feels like our fans just want something to be upset about at all times.
I would like to think this sub favours KT heavily despite him contributing less than TP to our progress while being equally injury prone.
Life upsets me enough I don’t need get upset with football too
That’s because KT is still an overwhelming fan favorite. He’s a good ol’ white proper British lad that wears shorts in winter, so most people like him and want him to play regardless of his fragility. It also doesn’t help that Partey’s rape allegations makes a lot of people want him out of the club, regardless of his value to the squad. I remember during the summer break, people literally wanted us to change our gameplam to fit in Tierney, because people were desperate for him to play, and it hurts to see such a fan favorite fizzle out.
It’s very similar to the Ramsdale/Raya discussion. Although they have very similar stats, people like Ramsdale because he’s English and he does funny shenanigans off the pitch, and people feel like he was unfairly benched, even though it really doesn’t matter who’s the keeper in the long run, since him and Raya have such similar stats. So it hurts people to see Ramsdale phased out and probably sold, even though statistically it doesn’t make much difference. Football fans are emotional like that.
If KT was as integral to the way we play as Partey is, I’m sure we’d all be just as annoyed at KT
It’s pretty easy to break it down.
A good percentage is people who are frustrated that we’re missing the benefit of someone who Mikel has rightly called ‘a super important player for us and for me’. (That’s pretty easy to sympathise with, even as an eyebrow is raised.)
A much smaller percentage are people who genuinely don’t understand his importance, and so look for any excuse to whine about what they don’t understand.
A comparable percentage are so absolutely convinced of their moral fantasies that they will look for any stick to beat him with, no matter how insubstantial, including David Icke-grade conspiracies about ‘injury lies’.
A percentage of those, especially from Eastern Europe: racismo.
I think people are upset at Thomas for other reasons as well
