My next first impression was that episode 1 was the best Star Trek series opener thus far, although my sample size only includes TNG and DS9.

tng was notoriously terrible, i think it was originally supposed to be shorter and then they got an order to add water to soup. but ds9 was decent intro and showcase of what was coming.
Voyager is great, just ends too fast considering how long the journey was.
At least I’m used to that feeling having just finished DS9.
Probably my favorite trek because it was my first trek. Also its the only one that actually treks.
