I mean, I’d like us not to. But there are a lot of fucked people in the world, and clear unequivocal instructions like these are sometimes felt needed. A clear set of principles must be a foundation of any society.
Its the foolish labelling by you of this as a ‘monocultural’ issue that was my problem earlier. These are basic norms in many countries because they include widely recognised and often horrible deprivations of others’ freedoms.
Insofar as these are cultural norms they’re barely unique, but they’re certainly not universal. Then in addition, individuals, no matter their cultural backgrounds won’t necessarily conform to expected cultural norms for various reasons.
I think, by your reply here, though, we align more closely in regards the situation than your initial post indicated.
It’s sad that authorities feel the need to spell these things out for people, but then again like another commenter mentioned, they’re not the only group who warrant extra attention this week. Other groups for example are Sydney Swans and High School boys.
So some reaction to correct behaviour is required when these things occur, but that’s not advocating a monoculture, thats putting outer limits on behaviour following generalised agreement on ethical behaviour across cultures.

Culture is recipes and language and shag carpets. Multiculturalism is listening to whatever music you want and wearing clothes that arent duplicate to your neighbor.
