The people who crave ESR RCM and Ødegaard shunted to LCM just assume that Ødegaard will be able to adapt to an area of the pitch he’s never played at any length in his career lol it’s like they just want their guy in a position that suits him and then they don’t care about where Ødegaard plays
I dont understand the esr rcm obssesion cuz by the look of how our recent games go, the most likely positions he will be competing for is lcm, and Kai is the on who has been shifted to rcm and come on as sub for ode and imo he is the player to have most potential there aside from ode. And some guys think this is fifa, just stick in a player in a position and it will work bcs the profile looks good on paper lol
I’d say ESR and Ødegaard are both ‘my guys’, and I still have no idea why this comes up at all.
ESR has had his best performances on the left (speaking generally), as Ødegaard has played almost exclusively on the right (as you point out), and Arteta values positional fluidity enough that even if they are nominally left and right, they’ll switch as often as he (or they) want.
Arteta also doesn’t care about ‘footedness’ in that pair of advanced 8 roles: a point made clear by playing two very left footed players there last season, and again by playing Kai on both sides this season.
Not really no, it’s about matching synergies together. Both him and Saka are chief creators. Martinelli and ESR provide dynamism/outlets. Having him next to Martinelli makes more sense, all else equal, than having him next to Saka.
It does not make sense to throw a key player into a role they’ve never played before
According to twitter, Saka now needs to take over Ode’s role because Ode is holding us back. First it was “move Ode to LCM so ESR can unlock Saka” and now it’s “Saka is evolving to RCM”. Ode is one of our most disrespected players
