The discussion is why can some players who are a 10 or an inside forward able to play as 8’s (Bernardo Sliva, Havertz, McAllister, De Bruyne, Foden, Bellingham) examples off the top of my head (I know McAllister is playing 6 atm) and others can’t? How much of it is tactically or position inflexibility or the manager not setting up the team properly.
And yes I am wandering my Mount or Bruno can’t play as double 8’s like the rest mentioned can.
brother, we are fucking useless whenever we don’t have a cdm. it has nothing to do with a forward playing mids. mctominay is, and always has been, a band aid to our cdm problem. if casemiro is on, and in form, we cannot do anything .
our last actual cdm before cas, was matic… think about it
I would love a 25 year old Matic right now. I think he was a bit underrated for us because of his age. At his best, he was an outstanding cdm. But yeah, before him it was Carrick. We’ve had a real CDM problem lately. Been saying for years that we needed to bring in 2 first team quality cdms and we still haven’t done it.
