He already plays in midfield.
The primary reason not to play him elsewhere is that he offers so much in his current role.
The secondary reason is that he wouldn’t offer more, or enough, in our nominal midfield roles. He doesn’t offer enough defensively to play as our 6, nor enough in attack to be an 8.
Zina has a beautiful niche; there’s no reason to take him out of it.
The whole thing is so he can provide overloads without being a permanent role.
I don’t know people bring up this shit.
In a way, it’s a confused compliment to Zina. He’s so effective in those overloads that it’s easy to start dreaming about how he might do more-- without realising he would likely do less, and that we’d be missing out on the very thing we’re enjoying now, and which Arteta values so much.
