Hello c/Warframe!
First of all, I want to make a big shout out to @keegen@lemmy.zip , whose effort in writing the Weekly Warframe Revisited posts here are what got me back into the game recently.
I just crossed something like 120 hours played (across many different attempts to “get into” the game over the last 10 years), which I know is peanuts compared to many folks, but it’s a significant personal milestone. It’s very rare that any game holds my attention for that amount of time, though full disclosure compels me to state that, prior to this latest interaction with the game, I’d wager I didn’t make it more than 10 hours in any of my previous attempts.
So, thanks to Keegen and their work here. I’ll speak for all of my fellow lurkers (what are they gonna do, post something to correct me? I think it unlikely lol) by saying we appreciate the effort you’ve put into preventing this community from stagnating.
In an effort to contribute, do any of you have any moments you’d like to share where Warframe made you do your best 
?
I’ll go first. Important to note 100+ playtime hours. I JUST discovered this week that the handful of mods I have in my inventory which affect multiple damage stats are rewards for Nightmare Missions. I’ve felt like my main frame’s power level had plateaued for some time, and routinely struggle to take on enemies in the 40-50 range on longer endless missions. Cue me learning that I’d been (intentionally) ignoring the mode which grants the exact sort of reward that breaks a build through to that tier of content, and cue my Picard impression.

Sold my Xoris for space. Then tried to do the Granum Void. Then had to farm a million Simaris points to get a new one. =[
Ha ha yeah totally, dam that’s crazy…
looks at inventory
- Rushing a 1-minute craft for 10 plat
- Crafting 10 squad energy restores at a time when the 100x blueprint exists (ditto for other consumables)
- Accidentally applying Umbra Forma to a frame instead of a regular Forma
- Accidentally removing an existing polarity with Forma
- Adding a Vazarin polarity to Atlas’s Exilus slot for Primed Sure Footed (his passive is knockdown immunity while grounded)
- Selling all of my Ayatan stars for Endo and then not being able to slot any into Ayatan sculptures
- Accidentally rolling over multiple Riven god rolls
- Buying way too much stuff for retail sell price on warframe.market
- Buying Primed Chamber
- Dissolving all copies of an arcane, realizing I also dissolved the max rank copy, farming enough copies of the arcane for myself and a friend, then accidentally dissolving half of them again
I’m sure there’s more stuff I’m forgetting or repressing. 5k+ hours btw
A few more from the recesses of my brain (and friends reminding me):
- Not checking Void Traces and running 100+ relics while capped
- Selling my Hema and Sibear (I’ve sold countless other weapons that I thought were “trash” at the time, but these are the two I regret most)
- Leaving 1k+ Nightwave cred on the table because I forgot to spend it before a season rolled over
- Accidentally leaving multiple Kubrows out to die from genetic regression (back when that was a thing that could happen)
- Failing a level cap defense in SP Circuit and losing rewards for the entire run (back when that was a thing that could happen)
- Somehow the first clan emblem I ever uploaded was off-center by a few pixels? I’m still not sure how that happened, but it drove everyone insane until I scrounged up the plat to fix it.
Things I’ve dunked on my friends for doing:
- Selling frames with Archon shards still equipped
- Dying to fall damage in Duviri (just roll or summon horse lmao)
- Selling unslotted Ayatan treasures
- Farming ducats for Baro and then forgetting to actually buy stuff from him
Oh hell. I’m learning from your list that, while I may have thought that I was solidly in the mid game at this point, the rabbit hole goes ever deeper. I only vaguely recognize like half of the mechanics you’ve mentioned lol. If I didn’t know better, I’d assume you were talking about some spin off title that I hadn’t been aware of. Like how a Diablo player might feel if they accidentally wandered into a thread talking about Immortal.
It’s incredible to me just how expansive the game is.
It only gets better. 120-ish hours is where I’d expect the game to start really opening up for you, assuming you’ve been making progress on the star chart and mastery ranks. 😄
As you can tell, there are many foot-guns and opportunity costs in this game. If you aren’t playing under someone else’s guidance, I recommend finding a mentor, else you risk making the same expensive mistakes that I (and many others) have made.

I believe in living with the consequences of my actions. I definitely made that choice deliberately and not because I didn’t know you could submit a support ticket for that.

You should be able to break the arcane back down into unranked ones, unless I’m misunderstanding.
Thank you, I appreciate that a lot! I’m really happy my weekly threads were what got you back into the game! I used to be a Reddit lurker myself but Lemmy and the Fediverse as a whole needs more content and I like this place and want it to continue so I forced myself to be more active. I can’t take credit for starting the Weekly Warframe idea (that honor goes to Selkie210 with the very first Weekly Warframe) but after they stopped posting them and no one else picked it up, I took up the mantle as I liked the idea. Here we are 2 years later, with all frames covered and going through revisits!
I have a pretty bad facepalm moment myself, I was a very impatient new player and with the very limited warframe and weapon slots you get I often sold both weapons and frames before getting them to rank 30 because I wanted to try out a new shiny thing I crafted instead. To this day I still have some weapons left at odd ranks like 16 or 29 on my profile that I need to re-craft and level up for mastery.
Oh man, the partially completed mastery would drive me nutty too. Thankfully, much of that pain has been ameliorated for me by virtue of having such an old, if mostly unused, account. Over the years it’s just accrued more and more slots through DE’s giveaways and what not. I think I’ve got 8 or 9 frame slots and close to 20 some odd weapon slots.
However, I’ve not ditched any frame I’ve acquired thus far, which means I’ve only got two slots remaining, and I’m going to have to make some hard calls about who gets retired. Thankfully, there are folks like you helping to translate how a frame is intended to be played, which is very helpful to a casual fan like myself.
Regarding selling stuff, this was a very delayed facepalm, but I finally hit an Endo bottleneck during this most recent period of activity, and i very much regret the hundreds of duplicate mods I sold for credits in past sessions over the years.
One thing regarding old frames, try to keep the base (non-Prime) versions until you unlock Helminth (if you didn’t already, ignore me if you did) from the Deimos syndicate. You can feed them to it instead and unlock one of their abilities for subsuming onto other warframes, much better than the few credits you would get for selling them and it saves you from having to re-farm them again.
Duly noted, had you not told me this, I likely would have axed Nyx or Ember in the next few days. I fear Octavia has spoiled me, because it’s so easy to just 1-2-3-4 and let the rollerball carry my lazy ass to victory. Hard to maintain the patience necessary to learn a new frame from scratch when I know I could be making big damage numbers happen elsewhere.
I put over 1000 hours in before I got saryn and tried ESO affinity farming
I went from barely having a pip in all of unairu and a few in other schools to unbinding everything in three schools in like a month or so. I could’ve been maxed so early if I just fought kela de thaym a few more times after unlocking her.
Are Saryn and ESO (Endless Survival…Onslaught? I know it’s not Elder Scrolls Online…right?) things I should be aiming for? I’ve kind of just been aimlessly chipping away at reputation grinds and trying to get blue prints, while also chipping away at the last few nodes of the star chart. It may do me some good to proactively work towards some concrete “mid-game” goals.
Elite Sanctuary Onslaught. It’s less of something to aim for and a useful mission type for grinding in. Lots of spawns, guaranteed affinity orbs. I used to only go there when I got a new weapon or frame I wanted to level up, but it’s also ideal for hitting your affinity cap each day.
Saryn is definitely a useful frame to have in your roster, though honestly I pretty much only pull her out for ESO specifically
Most definitely has to be the first time I realised just how much Endo I’d wasted by selling off duplicate Mods for Creds.
I started grinding weapons before I’d finished the Star Chart, so I had no idea the Index was even a thing. Needed that cash money and had Mods aplenty. Wasted at least about 6 maxed Rivens’ worth of Endo. At the very least, maybe even double that.
And, of course, started floating millions of Credits casually after unlocking the Index. This was slightly worse than buying the blueprint for Orokin Cells from the Market.
Oh, yeah, PSA: do NOT buy resource/component blueprints from the Market! You will literally get hundreds of resources and components by the time you finish the Star Chart!
I was just saying elsewhere in here that I hit my first Endo bottleneck earlier this month and was ruing the mods I had sold for credits over the years. I’m certain it was nowhere near the amount you’re speaking of, but a bummer nonetheless.
Worse was the 7 day credit booster I bought with plat in December because I really wanted to rank up my syndicates.
My first purchase in the game was the spores needed for nova. No regrets.
People who screw over the team in sortie missions with the radiation hazard. Double facepalm if they’re doing it on purpose…
