Researchers say they have made a significant step towards Drexlerian nanotechnology - programmable atomically precise manufacturing

If and when this becomes mainstream, we’re going to need better software than OpenSCAD, FreeCAD and Blender to actually design the things you want to build.
Can’t wait for Big Matter. I’ll be able to rent all of my surroundings which will all be slightly incorrect looking, and if I want it all to turn to goo and slither away I can just stop paying! I bet it won’t even cause cancer.
It was only recently that I learned that programmable matter has been a (theoretical) concept for decades - pretty cool if there have been some new developments in the field.
LOL, now Discovery’s depiction of 32nd century technology is going to look even more underwhelming.
