Donald Gibb -- best known for playing the lovable brute "Ogre" in the "Revenge of the Nerds" franchise -- has died ... TMZ has learned.

I worked on a movie with him within the last couple years. Really nice guy.

    It’s a bad year for Revenge of the Nerds actors! Robert Carradine died in February.

    Donald Gibb is also great in Bloodsport, of course. Always seemed like a nice guy, glad to hear that he was.

      I also worked on a movie with Bobby, another great human. My kids were in the movie and he was great with them, opting to eat in the general mess area instead of his trailer when my kids were on set.
