Undoing this damage will require the US to take a long hard look at itself and I don’t think there is the impetus to do that.

Why would, for example Europe, want to get back in bed with the US as long as the GOP who caused all of the problems still exist? We could have 8 years of stability and then some other insane republican gets in and it’s back to square one again. The better option is to just label the US’s politically unstable, and not have anything to do with them anymore.

If you want the rest of the world to trust you again you’re going to have to put these idiots on trial, give them serious prison sentences, and then change the stupid constitution so that convicted criminals are ineligible for office and the president isn’t God emperor, they have some limits on power. Also having the president elect court justices is obviously stupid as well, fix that.

Of course none of this will happen.

Pre-Trump US is over. You can’t undo the damage he’s caused and go back to how it has been.

If there are fair elections and the Dems take the House and Senate investigations will begin and his crony’s will close ranks because they are just as culpable. Dems have no interest in a presidential candidate who is just going to ignore the crimes of the past administration like Obama or a wish to return to norms like Biden.

The left will want these people prosecuted and jailed when we return to power. The right will do whatever it takes to stay in power to prevent this from happening. The oligarchs will do anything to preserve their grasp on both parties so they don’t become targets.

No matter how it plays out the US will be a turbulent place for at least a decade after the 2028 election.

Meanwhile the right owns the supreme court and a lot of lower court judges, so good luck with that prosecution. It will drag out for years and result in nothing.

The lasting side effect is going to be the rest of the world continuing to think of the US as a joke and all the trade relations they are building now. When the US settles back down they will never again weild the power they once had.

Vote blue no matter who. If we can win enough of a majority in the senate and the house over the next two elections we may be able to expand and pack the Supreme Court.

When primaries start the following needs to be the litmus test for all candidates.

1 Do you support prosecution of criminals within the Trump/Republican regime.

          1. Do you support packing the Supreme Court.

Edit: Apparently what I’m asking for above is too radical for this sub and I can’t reply to comments. Please see my edit below for my response to only voting for leftists.

You’re not going to get a leftist Dem elected in red states like Iowa or Texas.

By adopting the stance that you won’t vote for a non leftist in the Dem party you will guarantee Republicans and facists control of the senate and house and you will remain a ineffective minority while the right clocks up more Supreme Court seats and makes it impossible to vote for any left wing or Dem. Candidate

Pretty sure leftists have been more outspoken than liberals. On the day the court stripped away black representation in congress Chuck Schumer was praising Trump for some stupid horse shit. There’s a debate between who’s worse between do nothing democrats and fascists who accelerate the pain and force people awake. They’re both relatively valid views, but the primaries are the most important election in both arguments.

I believe they are saying that since the previous state was not functional, returning to it would not count as recovery and one needs to fix underlying problems that existed for most/all of the USA’s history.

In git terms: Reverting the branch to the pre-2016 state will not be enough because the issue was caused by old technical debt and one will have to refactor that as well.

This may not be reversible, some things he does especially involving painting granite, like the OEOB proposal, are not really fixable. So this thing is now coated forever unless it’s torn up and replaced, and the coating will break down within years I’m sure.

At the very least, this isn’t an old/historic pool, the old one was ripped up entirely in 2010 and remade with new concrete.

So if he ruins it, it’ll cost a bit to fix but it’s not ruining a historical artifact.

The work was done by Atlantic Industrial Coatings from New Canton Virginia. Their website: https://vaspray.com/aic/

According to their website they have experience with liners, but there’s no mention of using paint. My guess is that they placed an expensive liner in a pool on one of Trump’s properties, but Trump doesn’t want to pay that bill, so to compensate them, AIC got to do this cheap ass botch job for an inflated price for the us government.

With paint instead of a liner, they will have had to waterproof all the joints between the slabs as best as they could. That waterproofing will have become damaged when Trump’s motorcade drove over it.

I don’t think they have any experience I’m not even sure they have workers, no experience with that company, but the general scam is to get a dude with a contractor license to be the face and “subcontract” down to a bunch of people desperate enough to ignore the fact basically every labor law is being violated along with some other ones. I can guarantee anything removed during the construction of any of this is not going to be disposed of properly, it’s just going to go where it’s some one else’s problem.

I do believe that it used to be a real company with a few real employees, they show a few old projects on their website and those seem well executed. Their old specialization seems to be small scale renovations on culverts and small industrial basins with lots of nooks and crannies. They did the kind of jobs that their bigger competitors would rather not do. Which is probably also how they ended up renovating Trump’s pool: the actual pool companies didn’t want the headache of working for Trump org.

But then this massive paint job is like you described it. Too big for the company, done with loads of temp guys, with materials that they have no experience with … anything goes.
