Let’s just bin every starting player last season who started to feel the pressure of the title run and started making mistakes.
Ramsdale like most of our teams was a young player who was in a title-race for the first time and was a major reason for being in the race to begin with. His mistakes were far less frequent and for more understandable within the context. Raya has replaced him and is already making these types of errors consistently, multiple times within the game.
Did we forget when it was Ramsdale who kept our title hopes alive when our entire team started to fall apart against Liverpool? We nearly lost all 3 points that game after being 2-0 up. Our entire team felt the pressure last season. Ramsdale saved us that match as well as many others. He has earned far more points for us than his mistakes ever costed us, if you look at Allisson and Ederson they make mistakes like these too. But not every game and not multiple times within a game.
I have no hard feelings towards Raya, and I’d love to be proved wrong, but so far replacing Ramsdale has not paid off and seemingly cost us quite a few points in only a few games so far.
Raya distribution has GIVEN us points. We do not win against City with Ramsdale.
We are second. We are doing fine. Raya has not made any more mistakes than Ramsdale on average.
Our defense is even better this season, we can afford to be shaky and have better distribution. And Ramsdale makes mistakes in passing with time, Raya has had instances where he has been given awful back passes to deal with.
I’m not saying don’t give Ramsdale a chance, but this idea that Raya should be dropped, sold, etc is insane.
It’s irresponsible to base your argument on something that’s complete heresay.
Raya doesn’t know how to play out from the back. It’s not that he has had poor back passes, it’s that he can’t be relied upon to retain possession under pressure like a modern goalkeeper should do. Ramsdale honestly excelled at this. There were many times Ramsdale has created space by playing out from the back and inviting pressure. The most difficult games are the teams that understand ramsdale is pretty good at this and allow him to retain the ball. Ever since Raya, we pass it back to him, our butthole clenches, and then he makes a mistake, or kicks it long which apart from the second half against City, that usually just gives up possession or he finds someone who had no space to work with and they lose possession.
A confident Ramsdale used to invite pressure, and then pick out the right player in midfield and dink a blazing fast and accurate long ball that you couldn’t believe. There is so much value in actually finding the right player with a long ball, and if he couldn’t find them he’d play it short.
He definitely doesn’t play that perfect pass as much anymore but he hasn’t been bad by any means, just less impressive. he could’ve gotten back to his best. He’s a mentality monster.
Raya has had a few mildly impressive moments. Ramsdale has had moments that will go down in Arsenal goalkeeping history. I understand he’s had more time, but by Rambo’s third match he had David Seaman saying he made the best save he’s ever seen against Leicester.
“Raya doesn’t know how to play out from the back” you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about so might as well stop writing essays. Nobody’s going to bother reading after that awful take
Ah yes, Brentford and there famed possession focused play out from the back style football. Truly a Pep 2.0 style of football. I’ve never been less confident in a keeper having possession of the ball. My asscheeks still haven’t unclenched since watching the first half against City.
I’m not saying Ramsdale came from Barcelona, but he adapted far better and far quicker than Raya is, and has now had years training and playing our style.
Sure, I like that we gave Raya a chance just like we did when we bought Ramsdale. My problem is that when Ramsdale had his chance he shook up the league and we were calling for him to be Englands no. 1. There was no way Leno could get his spot back. Raya has done nothing but made me nervous, and question what did ramsdale do so wrong, that Raya is a better option.
This fucking lie that Raya had anything to do with us beating City needs to stop.
He was terrible. He was in no man’s land for what would have been a sure goal had it not been blocked on the line by Rice. Raya didn’t make a save in the match, because our defenders played Man City off the park.
His progressive pass numbers were inflated in the final ten minutes when he could pump the ball long to Havertz and Jesus after City pushed forward to try and get an equaliser.
I fundamentally don’t understand how anyone could have watched Raya’s last 4 games for us and doesn’t see that the guy is a drowning puppy in net.
Ramsdale made mistakes last season, but not at the rate of 2 or 3 a game. He didn’t make that volume of mistakes in the games he played this season.
Ramsdale does the exact same thing

Has his distribution given us points ? Has it been that good ?
He almost cost us a goal vs city taking an extra touch
Gabriel gave him a god awful back pass that led to that error lmao
It wasn’t an awful back pass, he took too long and Alvarez nearly scored, go watch it again
I have no idea where you get “we wouldn’t have beaten city” without him from
