Now this is vigilantism I can get behind.
Although it would be funnier if they hadn’t pied themselves and had pied a real CEO.
Purely performative. Got it.
The UK has a long tradition of pieing awful politicians - and guess what? It gets a laugh and memable pictures, but changes nothing.
- Nigel Farage has milkshake thrown at him, protester gets a criminal record. Policies unchanged.
- Tony Blair gets pelted with purple flour. Protester gets a criminal record. Policies unchanged.
- John Prescott gets egged, punches protester in the face. No arrest, policies unchanged, Labor wins election, Prescott survives politically in government.
- Peter Mandleson, government spin docotor, has green custard thrown at him. Policies unchanged.
John Prescott looked like he deserved it xD
UHC CEO gets assassinated. Policies unchanged.
I keep saying this- you cannot assassinate your way into companies putting people over profits. They’re legally required to do the opposite.
UHC rates will continue to rise and they will continue to deny people. CEOs are just as replaceable as every other employee in a corporation.
So you might as well throw pies in their faces and laugh at them because this is not how you solve systemic issues.
And I assume a bunch of you will be pissed off at me for saying so again, but you’ll be in for a rude awakening when your insurance premium goes up and Trump decides to bring back denying for pre-existing conditions.
Blue shield policy on anesthesia was changed the day after the assassination.
Policies have been changed and no pie was involved
You have no idea whether or not it was the assassination that changed that policy and I continue to maintain that you cannot solve a systemic problem with vigilantism.
How many CEO assassinations do you think it will take for the fully Republican-controlled legislative, executive and judicial branch to socialize the U.S. for-profit medical industry? You don’t need to give me an exact number, just an estimate.
When Shinzo Abe was assassinated, most of Tetsuya Yamagami’s concerns were directly addressed in policy, including the dissolution of the church he was protesting.
You’re living in a pipe dream if you think that a fascist oligarchy gives a shit about anything but making money.
And yet you cannot disprove a direct correlation between the two events, so, until we won’t have a bigger dataset to analyse, both our opinions are equally valid; even if a policy change in the time span of a day and against the economic interests of this institution would skewer the hypothesis towards my interpretation rather than yours, but I want to give you the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully we’ll have this increased dataset available in a short time ;)
To answer your question: more or less all of them. Or at least a great majority (70-80% at least), all of the people who you cited in your list are out for blood against the lower classes so I don’t see anything wrong in defending ourselves from these beasts.
They’ll have to be successful 100% of the times to avoid being killed, we will need just one successful try to reach our goal
How many CEO assassinations do you think it will take for the fully Republican-controlled legislative, executive and judicial branch to socialize the U.S. for-profit medical industry?
Only one way to find out. (Clearly I mean by recruiting the owl from the tootsie pop commercial to give us a number. I do suspect it will be greater than three, however.)
That’s not an answer.
Or are you admitting you can’t CEO assassinate your way out of a capitalist healthcare system under a fascist government?
Are you expecting some local neceomancer to raise Ken Lay just for a practical joke? Because I was…
Oh you wouldn’t need to raise him from the dead. Just digging him up would be fine.
He’s just Laying there after all.
Seems like the last vigilante would get behind too.

Just trying to make your day a little brighter.
Lame. PR stunt.
Do it to a real CEO, and ditch the pie.
To be fair… Not everyone is willing to risk it all and straight murder people, but still want to show their dissatsifaction with the system.
So just hand on face then?
Before the UnitedHealthcare CEO assasination, it would’ve been. Now it’s not.
Before, it would’ve had the message of maybe “we think a pie in the face and some public humiliation might make you fix your ways”.
Now though?
Now the message it sends is “this could’ve been your public execution, and the world would’ve cheered.”
Just like you are?
A satirical Enron, so was the pie a planned part of the art or was it a legit attack by someone not in on the joke?
It was planned. But still quite funny.
That’s pretty lame. There’s way better things to do with CEOs in new york
I think part of the point is just to show that they can be touched. It would be like walking up and saying “bang bang” with finger guns instead of actually shooting them. It’s a way of going “I could have done it. You’d be dead if I wanted it. This is a reminder and a warning that you only rule because the plebs allow it.”
I agree, there are better things to do to CEOs, especially for companies as shitty as Enron. But if CEOs are on high alert like they are now, then a pie to the face would be a good way of keeping them anxious. It would tell them “your security failed. They need to succeed every time, but the masses only need to succeed once.”
I feel like this “CEO” and “birds aren’t real” guy is just a self-promoter of the Jake Paul type, or like the guy who started “BumFights.”
We finally have something going on that could really be a focus on the evils of corporate corruption, and there’s some self-promoting manipulator who jumps aboard as quickly as possible to get some screen time.
It’s really disgusting.
Staged for free advertising? It makes no sense for someone to attack a nobody, that “Enron CEO” is a title that has been given by himself.
Satirical company, so yes, that’s all it is and nothing more.
Note: not actually the energy company.
I bet he was pissed but when he got home he felt quite lucky that was all it was.
They’re bringing back Enron? Who’s fucking idea was that?
It’s a satirical company.
This is literally all publicity stunts.
satirical project on the relaunch of the energy company Enron
The new Enron might be a satire on crypto but it’s more likely just another crypto grift
Was he pied by Bernie Sanders?
Now do trump.
I thought presidents get shoes
It is tradition, after all
Ideally with something denser and faster than a pie.
For sure. I’d settle for the pie though since he’s apparently so afraid of it.
Everything about this is lame.
