Gowron’s personality is the textbook definition of menacing but he’s not a villain. 10/10 creative story writing
Also… the first season isn’t great?
People always say that, but I enjoy the first season.
I think it’s largely because the first season of TNG had several leftover TOS and Phase II scripts. So they feel less “next gen” than the rest of the series.
The Motion Picture was also based on Phase II scripts. This is why it has a bunch of random characters we never see again.
random characters
You mean like “guy at space station who isn’t a Vulcan but was supposed to be a Spock stand-in” and “bald lady who randomly blurts out about her oath of celibacy when no one asked” and “fallback if they couldn’t afford shatner”
My last TNG rewatch was right after a TOS rewatch and the transition is actually quite smooth.
That’s usually how I do it too. Maybe that’s why!
I mostly enjoy it. But it is absolutely, definitely not great.
Also… the first season isn’t great?
Start Trek was only realy living to its full potential on the premise for TNG, between seasons 3-5.
Anything before was too horny hippy, anything after was too edgy.
I have no opinions on NuTrek. Unless you mean about Benjamin “Mad Bomber” Sisko and his desire to put planetfulls of civillians lives at risk.
Eh, 2-7 was virtually all great even if 3-5 peaked.
Ds9 went off the rails too many times in ways like you mention. But it was good enough (like Voyager and even a bunch of Enterprise).
But I’ll take 2, 6-7 over any of the other shows
I lost it at panel 5 you beautiful bastard
Lol I just loled again and now my kid is looking at me
“Yep, there’s a war, but that’s in the NEXT series, a few years later!”
I must have missed the 7th Heaven - Star Trek crossover.
The dad was in the first movie too. (Next to George Takei)

Dude was straight up smuggling grapes in that uniform

just look at the acorn on that guy holy shit
And a little too on-the-nose…Collins played a reverend/minister but turned out to be a diddler IRL
Not the only crossover, but the better of the two.
