Is there anything worse than international breaks? Like outside of the world cup, does anyone give a fuck? Don’t get me wrong, I understand why the games need to be played, I just don’t care whatsoever about it.
I can’t bring myself to watch anymore - even England v Italy! Am up for the actual Euros/WC footy though
Half the time we don’t even know if the game is “meaningful” or not, either
It is meaningful when it comes to qualification. Ask Albanians sitting atop of their group and Wales just beating 3rd place and semi-finalist Croatia at home. Just like Hampden Park was rocking all night when Scotland schooled Spain in a 2-0 win. All ranked matches.
Not denying that at all, just saying we never know what the break entails - Euro qualifying, useless Nations League, or simply “line the coffers” even more useless International Friendlies
Tbh it seems pointless from a fans POV, ranked matches like WC/Euro qualifiers aside, even friendlies and the nations league which is just glorified friendlies is vital for a professional footballer’s perspective. Not only can you show case yourself but also get match fitness.
Also, most footballers are actually more patriotic than the average football fan, whilst the reverse is often said.
