      In Australia you can get a BYD Atto 1 for 27k, which is 6k less than the cheapest new Toyota.

      I mean, they did come down in price / km of range quite drastically in the last 15 years. 2011 Nissan Leaf could barely go 160 km on a charge for $32780, while the 2026 Leaf can go almost 500 km for $29990. It’s like a three-fold decrease in terms of $/km.
