EVs are cool but I don’t trust the CCP a single fucking iota so I’m worried these are gonna be obsoleted, irreparable, remotw shutoff, spying on people, all kinds of wacky shit.
I do wish there was a company selling “dumb” EVs. No cellular, no OTA updates, no cameras and so on. Just battery, motor, motor controller and auxiliaries. Like a cheap car from 2005. A DIY conversion is the only way to achieve this as far as I know.
There definitely are a couple, such as SLATE.
At this point I trust them more than the US.
In every way that the USA is bad, China is worse.
While I agree, fuel can be somewhat shut off too. Twice in the last week my local has been out of diesel. I feel China is so effectively taking over with cheap ev’s that they won’t need to use nefarious avenues, they’re gonna crush the market.
I don’t like the word “effective” used to describe heavy subsidies, to corner markets, fueled by rampant slave labour and extreme poverty wages.
