some people misinterpret “freedom of speech” meaning universal freedom of speech. all it mandates is that the government isn’t going to punish you for saying shit. It does not protect a person if other people punish them for saying shit.
Another way to say that is: Freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequences your speech elicits in others.

Let’s see, the conservative Christian right just voted in a nasacistic tyrant twice. They want to declare America as a Christian country. They want to abolish the separation of church and state. They want to teach creationism in schools. They want LGBT to register as sex offenders. They want to remove books from schools and libraries they don’t like.
