$5 says we live in the same country, but even if we don’t, I feel that so hard
Most people even agree on the reasons you dislike your government, and agree that you as an individual can’t do much to change the course of your country.
Plenty even suggest finding a better place to live.
The second you suggest you might seek refuge in their area though, the pearl clutching begins.
A few months ago I basically said “it sucks because I would move to X country but based on immigration laws I’m not a refugee yet and I don’t have a degree” and someone straight up said then maybe I should have gone to college.
It’s like people expect you specifically to be some wonder woman superman and single-handedly and change the course of the largest most expensive government and military on the planet, and if you don’t then you should be doing your part by rushing a cop while holding a gun because protesting and organizing isn’t good enough for their timetable while they sit comfy and cozy on their couch.
It’s bullshit mental gymnastics and good old fashioned cognitive dissonance. Denial and ignorance are rampant, because if they stopped to think about it logically they would have nothing but compassion and understanding for the people trying to flee an oppressive regime.
Well, not from the same country, but yeah close enough and also when you explain what each country is doing that’s bad, not really much of a difference.
I mean… trump have deported russian dissidents trying to claim asylum… so maybe go to Canada or something…
Bring proof to strengthen asylum claim
Photos of you at protests…
Any arrest records…
Evidence of govenment people following/harassing you…
Any anti-government comments online, especially if you used your real name…
And it helps to find human rights activists and lawyer for asylum claims.
Generally how asylum happen is you buy a plane ticket to a country, the official reason is something like say tourism…
then you get there… don’t leave, file claim for asylum…
Do not try the US right now, it’s not refugee/asylee friendly right now. trump is gonna help putin by sending people back to russia, don’t trust him, he’s on the same side as the russian government.
I think the problem is… does your government allow people to leave?
Jeez that’s fucked of them to say that you should’ve gotten a degree. I feel like the assholes saying ‘stay out’ are the same ones causing issues in my country at the moment. The only reason I’d suggest someone find a country besides mine is the pressing descent into authoritarian dystopia. But if it’s better than where you are and you think it will get better, come on down to the US. Plenty of friendly people here to counter the dickheads.

I’d give anything to be in your shoes.
