I have un-grumpied my butt with cat cuddles, some food and making loud, discordant noises in the studio.

And everyone is now tucked in for some sleep. Goodnight ❤️

The fluffy boi has been having testing on his kidneys, and the vet’s incidentally found a serious heart condition. Poor little chicken. More expensive tests that I can’t really afford to follow.

I’ve just eaten almost a whole bag of Doritos and as a consequence am no longer hungry enough to have motivation to cook dinner. Maybe a toasted sandwich will do for today, with some fruit after. Healthy eating starts again tomorrow.

Tired from my labours, but finally sitting down to relax before bed. I’m rewatching Seinfeld, have needed a comfort show lately. Something I’ve watched before but enjoy watching again, requires not much concentration and is from a simpler time.

Tell me your comfort show (if you have one).

Not something you’d expect, but American Dad. It’s mindless enough to semi-engage without getting too bored and while edgy it doesn’t seem to be enough to be genuinely upsetting.

And the lack of continuity/wacky hijinks resolving back to the status quo means it doesn’t matter about what order or whether the uploader has chopped it up into many out of context chunks.

I wouldn’t say I was a fan. In fact it’s easier to chuck on for background because I don’t care about following the show. But it’s something that’s kind of reliable to just watch when anxious or tired or flossing or gaming without worrying about closely following the plot or missing anything. It’s Comfortably Dumb.

Family Guy tries too hard though. Kinda lame. The offensive jokes aren’t even offensive to me, they’re just lazy.

Ah godammit, my food was delivered to the wrong address, the driver didn’t supply a photo like they usually do so I couldn’t go hunting for my food and didn’t answer the phone when I rang. 1 star review for you, the first time I’ve ever done that. Replacement order on the way but for crying out loud!

They immediately replaced the order and a guy drove it from there to here like he had Satan at his heels lol. The food was delicious, the chicken super crispy and tender on the inside and the sauces were beautiful 🤩

I think of how dark the world has been and will continue to be for me personally.

And I’m not even suffering the most relative to other people. And I think to myself I really don’t want to be here. On the other hand dying is not really appealing either.

I see some people at work sometimes sailing through completely carefree that have always lived in a bubble. Kind of pisses me off. Why isn’t that me? And it annoys me even more when they are lazy and ungrateful.

I’ll be honest, banning yourself from news helps me a lot because sometimes it’s just way too much for me.

I enjoy listening to my radio talk shows because in a bubble they have a rule for not talking about news in the world or politics for the most part.

I also have tools for some escapisms when I need it.

It’s not healthy to be connected constantly to bad news every day.

Triple M’s Rush hour, a lot of rubbish and nonsense type fun there which I don’t mind.

I have some other stuff on the side like all my sports podcasts but also have Sooshi Mango and Hamish and Andy as well.

My sports stuff are AFL and Cricket based as well.

some people are unaware of their luck or that other people within their sphere can be leading a completely different kind of life because they don’t have the same privilege

many years ago I read one of Richard Wright’s autobiographies, the one of him growing. He wrote how when he was older and famous he contacted some of his white classmates from high school to talk about life in the South.

Wright was treated poorly by his teachers, given no to little encouragement , not recommended for college. His classmates told him they were given every opportunity and encouragement and treated very nicely by their teachers. His white classmates had no clue the black students were treated differently by teachers as it was done in private.

I think many people who have carefree lives just have no clue that life is harder for other people. That accent, skin colour, family, school, suburb, opens and close doors and it’s just luck

I don’t blame people for being unaware of inequality. I wish everyone was treated well. I do blame people if they are bastards holding others down.

I guess the person I’m thinking of is very insensitive to others, even when they are aware of their background. So it irks me.

I’m sorry dude. I’m in the same spot but doing the sad clown thing because really what else can I do.

I’d wish things to get better for you, but for some people they don’t and I don’t want to create even implied pressure to “get better”. Which in Australia seems to involve a lot of stiff upper lips and bootstrapping…

(A lot of the time people think they’re being encouraging but they’re doing toxic positivity and pushing you until you act in certain ways that they think you should or even hide your feelings. Also there’s nothing wrong with the way you feel. It’s a valid response to some inescapable circumstances.)

I won’t push you to seek professional help. It may or may not be available or affordable to you, you may not be able to find someone who can understand well enough to help, or you may even already be seeing someone. That’s none of my business and ultimately your choice.

What I will do is wish for you to get safely through these moments - if you feel that you can. I will hope that there will be moments of relief when this feeling will lighten.

I will tell you that there’s another person who feels very much the same and you’re not alone.

I will wish for something to shift so that you don’t have to feel like you don’t want to be here.

If anyone would like a pretty chill career change, get familiar with the CMS Drupal and hit up recruitment agencies to become a ‘Digital Content Specialist’.

    https://www.drupal.org/home

It’s free and open source. You could buy some web hosting and install it through cPanel, then do enough Youtube courses to put it on your resume. All Victorian Government websites are on Drupal, and so are some Federal ones. You might be able to get a plush gig copying and pasting content from word docs to websites.

That’s so good of you to post that.

Used to work with Joomla, but that was aeons ago.

Wouldn’t mind switching back to a plush gig. (Have a bit of a jack of all background that always is hard to put on paper, but easier to chat about. Might be a bit too out of the loop these days.)

That’s where a decent recruiter can be really helpful. You talk to them and put your background in context and then they can advocate for you.

I’ve been placed by the recruiter that got me my upcoming role a couple of times. I had a 15 minute teams call with the client and they decided to pick me off that

blerp, case of the anxiety wobbles again today. Didn’t help that today’s viewing got cancelled at the last minute. LL has sent through rental ledger as requested, which is all okay, but it’s pretty dumb that some part of my body now gets extremely tense every time I see her name in my inbox or I have to deal with her. Truly silly.

I have another viewing tomorrow that ticks lots of boxes but “Inspection is a must” and the sudden advertising of this property does make me wonder what’s going on. Pics look a bit too good to be true. Wondering if it’s a case of suspicious neighbours…
