At the risk of doxxing myself, the popular beach town I grew up in recently had a big win for the indigenous there who reclaimed a large swath of beach which the Crown outright admitted had been accidentally given to colonists due to a surveying error (I don’t really think politics ever happens “by accident” like that but whatever).
The arguments against it just said it out loud; they thought it “set a dangerous precedent”. So this actually is happening in other places around the country. It’ll be interesting to study the reactions from the land acknowledgement crowd. Surely they should have no problem with this…
I am learning (still learning though) not to give too much weight to reaction happening - it should be expected otherwise there is no fight to begin with no oppression or subjugation to dismantle.
I am really cautious about these wins, not because I disagree with them, but what concession has been allowed by the bourgoisie system to allow it to happen - if it is soley a response due to militant solidarity then it is less concerning but if the organising is not as strong we have to wonder how it was won in the first place.

Ask them if it was instead a made up claim of heritage from 3000 years ago supposedly based on some Abrahmic scriptures would it make their cognitive dissonance more palatable.
