The Cybertruck’s owners manual does caution against ever washing the truck in direct sunlight, and there is a section expressly mentioning that the truck has to be switched into “Car Wash Mode” before washing to avoid damage to parts of the vehicle.
Da fuq!?
- Do not expose the steel gremlin to water
- Do not expose the steel gremlin to sunshine
- Never ever feed the steel gremlin after midnight
PLEASE DRINK VERIFICATION CAN
Do not taunt Ridiculous Steel Gremlin
Car wash mode shuts off the automatic braking, folds in the mirrors, closes the windows, and puts it in neutral. It isn’t to protect the steel or anything silly like that.
You really should be careful about washing any car in direct sunlight if you want the best result/paint longevity. For the cybertruck I would think it would matter much less.
A call with Tesla confirmed that the truck had needed a complete reboot which took over five hours of sitting to complete.
Five hours ain’t no boot, yo.
Sounds like every second Tuesday of the month.
I don’t know what’s worse. That this bucket of bolts is designed so badly that it needs a car wash mode, or the fact that said mode is apparently ineffective.
Yeah, how the fuck can this thing function in the rain, but not a car wash?
how the fuck can this thing function in the rain?
That’s the detail, it doesn’t.
At least he got it to stop! Baby steps.
Or metal balls
At least metal balls are solid.
As much as I can’t stand this vehicle, reading the article it seems like this failure was a coincidence and not necessarily caused by washing it.
If you think that’s bad, you don’t even want to know what happens when it gets rained on!
