if I’m lazy, I pick up steamdeck. literally my go to laziness device
there is lots of these, guys https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/AyTGbpjlC1
I’m sure some good guide will pop up before our oleds arrive either here or yt
that some new pay to win game you have there?
the main tsunami of purchases is over now. valve obviously have enough stock as no model is out of stock yet. they are also manufacturing new as we speak and can use the demand to estimate what will be needed.
tldr: chances are very high, it would be a surprise if there was a shortage
check video from taki udon, he did the swap on screen and it worked np
dont worry, there will be guides how to clone content of your current ssd to oled deck and what to pay attention to
I am on the fence between doing that (ie transferring soul of old deck to new) or setting oled from scratch while my current deck is around. that way I will see what I’m missing to set and how it was done before
taki udon just posted a yt video comparing steamdeck oled screen to original and lenovo go (ally, deckhd too), so check it out if you are deciding based on screen alone
no, it is perfectly okay to sell your current and buy oled.
there is a person who will buy your lcd deck and will love it, so one more in the community
you will get noticeably better steamdeck. I’m doing the same thing.
maybe I leave my current deck for my son when he travels, but not sure he will like it, so might end up selling
now, I know my statement in 2) is not popular around here, but just check digital foundry, dave2d, taki udon’s reviews, cryobyte’s vid and gamers nexus teardown comparison and it simply is a fact oled version is a better console. no shame in admitting that. I love my lcd steamdeck, it’s the best gadget I ever owned (and I owned one too many tbh). but I’m getting oled right away as it is my dream come true
no, will not happen. oled is different tech, the panel is thinner, so would not physically fit, needs different connectors, etc.
not happening
yeah, it took me few attempts to find this out myself
