I went 8 to 23 without any issue. Logged into my account, and it seemed to work well, though I did have to re-download apps and setup the phone the way I like it.

Note: you can get battery cases for old phones cheap to extend an ancient battery. They are good for about a year depending on how heavily you recharge from the case. That is how I kept my Note 8 running up until I also cracked my screen and the 23 replaced it.

If you have a Genie garage door opener, and the “Aladdin Connect” app connected, it does exactly what you describe if you open the door via the app. Basically you press the button in the app, then the garage door starts beeping and flashing the lights, and then what seems like a few seconds later the door will start opening.

I am in the process of replacing all my switches just like that with occupancy sensors in my fans that automatically run for 20 min any time someone enters the room.

The trick is I now have holes in my wall to patch / cover.
