  • With all due respect to NDP voters, in December the Liberals were set to lose 100 seats and the NDP was polling to gain zero of them.

It isn’t Trump’s fault that the NDP support is falling, it’s the NDP leadership’s fault for not changing anything when the writing has been on the wall since at least 2023, and in my opinion as far back as the 2021 election.

The NDP needed to make changes then, and now they’re going to get crushed because nobody in the driver’s seat acknowledged that. They needed a clearer message, they needed better leadership, and they needed to prove that an NDP plan could be affordable and promote economic growth, and frankly I still am not convinced wealth taxes would.

  • We have a once in a lifetime chance to get the best and brightest American academics and researchers.

Are we really going to waste this golden opportunity on the same policies chasing them away from the US in the first place?

This is a golden goose. This is a chance for us to bootstrap our pharma, tech, AI, materials engineering, chip design, and more industries.

This kind of thing hasn’t happened since scientists fled nazi Germany.

  • I’ve found this position weak.

AI is a tool. Yes, the government should find a way to make it accessible to government employees, but if it is a good tool you don’t have to force people to use it, they just naturally will use it because it makes their lives easier.

Tech companies are also guilty of this wishful thinking — Shopify just came out saying employees should be 100x more productive with AI. Frankly that number is pure fantasy.

    (Forgive the X link) https://x.com/tobi/status/1909251946235437514

The things that make me more productive have always been having more ownership of decisions and committing to projects, and having tools to make my workflows easier — and I have been automating everything I can since I started working.

AI is at best 30% improvement on boilerplate code completion. Deep research tools can save a few hours sifting through content, but the bottleneck is still me studying and deeply understanding a concept and AI won’t resolve that. That’s not a 10x multiplier though, it’s in that 30% range again.

Even the latest AI agents are not super impressive to me, I can generally get the task done faster and more reliably.

  • I hope this happens and sends a message to the Conservative Party.

You can’t be with the maple MAGA and the “anti woke” crowd while appealing to Canadians or even socially minded conservatives.

You can’t only criticize and attack, at some point you have to demonstrate you can lead.

When it comes to the protection of Canada, you don’t ever wait for the polls to tell you what to say. You drop everything and defend our country. Every time. The conservatives used to stand for that.

Lastly: every single conservative candidate has declined to comment on news or show up to any local event in this country. What does that tell us voters about how accountable you will be in office?

Anyways, get fucked Pollievre, I hope he loses his seat and the party splits, Canada deserves better than the CPC.
