Respectfully, I love BMWs but the M8 and a 911 Turbo are not in the same league.

Off the top of my head: K20, LS3, B58, Hellcat engine.
The K20 is an amazing engine. So much fun, VTEC scream and reliable. Capable of holding boost and doing crazy things. Fastest rally car in the world is K20 powered.
The LS3 speaks for itself. The engine swapping V8 of choice for like, everybody. Reliable, powerful, cheap and sounds fantastic. What’s not to like?
The B58, the closest thing we have to an attainable modern 2JZ. They’re everywhere, they’re fuel efficient and reliable, and they’re capable of insane power with just a downpipe and a tune. They also sound great.
Ah yes, the Hellcat engine. Broke the internet when it came out, started another domestic horsepower arms race with the GT500 and ZL1, practically starting a second golden age of muscle cars. I’m happy to be alive and seeing 2016+ V8 muscle cars everywhere on the streets. Cars powered with this engine are still the gold standard for “what’s fast” 8 years after they came out. If you’re faster than a Hellcat Challenger, you’re pretty fast.
I excluded obvious favorites like the 2JZ, LS7 etc.
Booooooring!
