None of them electoral politicians, like the ones we’re talking about here. Try again.

I’ve heard that the young’uns call “ohio” things that are weird and cringey.
Name specific policies. Otherwise, I dunno man, maybe you quit a good job or something.
I thought originally that you were suggesting a simple syntactic manipulation of the fraction but you’re not. I don’t understand why the equation you propose is reasonable.
The amount “civilians” in your calculations is tricky. The first time it appears it refers to dead civilians, the second time it appears to the overall civilian population (hence the 1/2 using the rule of thumb that half of Gazans are under 18).
I.e you can’t say
#deadKids/#allDead = #deadCivilians/#allDead * #deadKids/#allCivilians
Because #deadCivilians << #allCivilians
What did Harper do to make your bank account happy? Please refer to specific policies.
Like @filister@lemmy.world said above, it’s 2:1 adults to children, not combatants to non-combattants.
Something something they voted 20 years ago. /s
It’s actually genocidal language…
Unclear. Are you referring to human rights abuses in cobalt mining? Are you talking specifically or abstractly? About a specific industry or generally? Individually or at the national level?
Nobody is talking about billionaires “giving up their stuff” or making a “sacrifice”. This is about wresting ownership of the means of production away from the capitalists. I don’t know exactly what you mean by “complicity” in this particular discussion, you’ll have to clarify.
Phew. So, like, this is OK, right? Nothing to to see here, move along? Nothing to worry about 15000 (fifteen fucking thousand, like fifteen times a thousand, something like a thousand times my kid’s classroom size) dead kids, because it’s not out of the ordinary for urban warfare conducted in a manner intended to reduce civilian casualties? Thanks man, that really will help me sleep at peace with my conscience tonight.
(If we were talking about 15000 dead Israeli kids, we’d be -rightfully- freaking the fuck out. But 15k of those other kids, that’s fair game. Super ethical too.)
Easy. Is come from the grrrreek word χειμώνα, is mean winter. What do you put on in the winter when it’s cold? A kimono. There you go.
Give me any word, any word 😆
Also, yes, good idea pointing out xenophobia. We Greeks keep complaining about both the demographic problem and the influx of immigrants. Our problem is not that there are fewer babies, it’s that there are fewer babies of the right kind. There is some hope as second generation immigrants are normalizing different ways of being Greek (like the Antetokounmpos). Who knows what 10 years down the road looks like.
Yea I assumed that your main point was some kind of sacrifice, not the smartphones themselves. If it weren’t for the smartphones you’d be phrasing your gotcha around TVs, or washing machines, or fridges, or indoor plumbing. I’ve seen this very conservative argument before.
Progressivism and leftism aren’t some kind of ascetic christianity and nobody needs a morality preacher. Social progress is not about individual morality. And it’s not a zero sum game either.
There is enough food production and wealth in the world to eliminate hunger and extreme poverty already. I could be a selfish asshole not willing to part with my sneaker collection and that would still be the case.
Maybe there is a future where carrying around a smartphone isn’t necessary because we’ve rebuilt human connection in communities. The damn things are addictive misery machines under capitalism anyway. But that’s very different from going around wagging the finger at people that say “we could feed the hungry”.
Weird gotcha. What is this the early 2000s when smartphones were rich people toys?
There is Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) but default Mint is Ubuntu based (Ubuntu is also based on Debian).
What’s wrong with overnight oats? I really like them.
Hm, sure taxes went up in that sense, but ultimately they funded some good social programs, such as universal daycare, expanded dental care etc. Plus the whole CERB thing during the pandemic. So, you know, the overall bottom line is not as clear cut. Unless we’re talking about your particular account.
I don’t know is any political party talking about bringing back the spousal split? All I’ve heard from Bitcoin Trump-lite is the “axe the tax” nonsense about the carbon tax.
