Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Latin America reaches 10,000 electric buses in operationEnglish
5·11 days agoIntreseting point you made there, and I think you are correct. Found this relevant percentage about Chile, Santiago. And damn, I had to do some digging.
According to official data, the fleet went from 922 electric buses in 2022 to 4,088 units in February 2026, and is projected to reach 4,400 electric buses during 2026 – a figure equal to roughly 68% of the entire system fleet. [source]
To clarify and to my understanding, here they talk about the Red Movilidad system fleet which is the public transport system that serves Santiago.

0·17 days agoIt looks like one of the main problems with fusion are the materials.
Long-term research and design strategies for fusion energy materials
the materials required for commercially viable fusion power plants do not exist today. […] The challenge of fusion materials is compounded by the fact that design targets are not precisely defined and are rapidly evolving and by a lack of representative testing facilities.

0·17 days agoIt didn’t cross my mind to be honnest. Their about page didn’t give that impression. Also, I looked up a bit Spencer Scott and I found some decent articles. For example: Solarpunk: Refuturing our Imagination for an Ecological Transformation.
Personnaly, I wanted to find specifics about their decission-making process. I didn’t manage to really. I suppose if they had a model of horizontal organizing, they would be talking about it? In the same time it looked like a decent enough project, so it seemed like worth posting.
On second thought, does this project seem to you like it could be a cult?

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•Every €1 of public funding for wind delivers €7 annually to Europe’s economy
0·18 days agoBy 2040, each €1 of public funding for wind generates €7 in annual economic returns,
So the title is a lie, not a fact. It’s an estimation, coming from those who want the funding to increase. Trinomics does also lobbying in the EU. It’s easy to assume that green lobbying is fine because it’s for a good purpose, but it’s worth keeping in mind that lobbying’s purpose is about getting more money, no matter the argument used. So, the reality in the EU about wind turbines is that they are deployed even in Natura 2000 areas (protected biodiversity hotspots), and that’s because companies want to sell more turbines, to make more money.
Please, don’t get me wrong, I’m all in for wind turbines, but only after proper assesments. This is why I strongly believe that we need to shift away from narratives and arguments related to profit, and focus on arguments centered around the intersections of environment, biodiversity, climate etc.

0·20 days agoCould you be more specific?
Respectfully, it’s like you are not listening to the arguments you are being provided, which have been repeated to you several times already.
I don’t want to argue on cloudy grounds
Respectfully again, your whole approach is cloudy, or should I better say: all over the place.
Verbally interacting is not only about arguing. It can also be about listening, taking into account what the other person or persons are saying, and reflecting on these inputs.

0·24 days agoA reminder that this article was from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and that Israeli universities not only have an exceptionally close relationship with the Israeli military and arms industry, but also play a key role in planning, implementing and justifying Israel’s regime of occupation and apartheid.
Some specifics about the the Hebrew University of Jerusalem:
- Mount Scopus campus is partly built on illegally occupied land in East Jerusalem.
- Host the IDF’s Havatzalot academic elite program which is designed to train future intelligence officers.
- Hosts the highly secretive Talpiot military program, combining military training with studies in math, physics and computer science.
- Has publicly promoted its provision of ‘diverse logistics equipment to several military units’ since the invasion of Gaza began.
- Michael Federmann, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elbit and biggest owner, is also a member of the Board of Governors of both the Weizman Institute and the Hebrew University

You say you want a conversation with me but you don’t even bother taking into account my suggestion which was actually very simple:
do a search of the word “sexism” and read at least something about it.
Instead, you chose to write this comment. Your approach doesn’t make me want to give you any more of my time at this point. So bye bye for now
If the term “mother earth” is sexist or not is something that depends on the context. Well, imo.
The characteristics you project to motherhood and fatherhood are totally stereotypical.
To me it seems obvious you haven’t spent any time on this topic and I assume that since you like writing, most probably you like reading? If that’s the case, I invite you to use your favorite search engine and start researching this topic. I really hope you’ll enjoy the findings!
Tbh the only thing I got from this text was sexism, not an image

Waving to you :)
