1 month ago@TeraByteMarx there’s some excellent recent publications on the history since colonisation: for Victoria, the Yoorrook report (https://www.yoorrook.org.au/reports-and-recommendations/reports); for the east coast, Warra Warra Wai (https://www.simonandschuster.com.au/books/Warra-Warra-Wai/Darren-Rix/9781761424021). Both in their own ways crucially important experiments in truth telling, and both eminently readable.
@TeraByteMarx oh, and Marcia Langton’s Welcome to Country Handbook is a useful introduction covering histories and cultures https://publishing.hardiegrant.com/en-au/books/the-welcome-to-country-handbook-by-marcia-langton/9781741178227 (note there’s several Welcome to Country books by the same author - this is the one that focuses on history most)
