If you want to support me, you can do so at the links below. I also have Ko-Fi, but there aren’t enough entries…
These first two levels are impressive and have lots of parallax scrolling, nice colors and even some subtle perspective 3D effects. This is definitely peak GameGear and in my opinion beats the GameBoy version. Disney games on SEGA consoles are mostly VERY good titles.
There are two versions: A Japanese one and a World version. The Japanese version seems slightly different apart from the language. The first two levels are action scenes where Aladdin is running through Agrabah and over the rooftops. Both sequences seem a bit longer in the Japanese version.
The game features lots of cut scenes that tell the movie‘s story. This is extremely useful and also very well done. The graphics are some of the best I have seen on the GameGear. Remember: this is a Z80 system with only a few kilobytes of RAM!
Backgammon is a solid implementation of the board game. Different levels give novices like me a chance to actually win!
Yacht is actually Yahtzee, but probably renamed for trademark reasons. The rules are a bit weird, full house counts as the dice values, not 25 points.
Reversi and checkers play as expected, too. I must say I am ver bad at both, failing to grab the border squares.
Chess is working as expected, but doesn’t seem to have an opening library. Or not a very exhaustive one at least. Easiest level should be okay to beat for inexperienced players.
@SpaceMan9000@lemmy.world Just search eBay… They are really straight forward. Bridge the solder jumpers, measure the pads to see if it worked -> done! :)
And if you missed it, the stream is now up on YouTube:

@bytex64@awesome.garden there are some games with battery backup. Ocarina of Time comes to mind. But also a handful more:

And after that we of course managed to find the good ending as well. All in all this was good game. It shows that it’s Stefan‘s third game and it’s arguably his best so far. It felt a bit short, but was motivating and very atmospheric all the time. I personally would have loved a bit of a larger map without purely decorative rooms, and maybe even a sort of progression where you move from one setting to another, but I guess the game works as it is. Two thumbs up! 👍
Next up we actually reached the neutral ending. I won‘t spoil the steps how to get there, but it should be rather obvious after you managed the bad ending. Quite intriguing…

A little teaser about what the video is all about.

I will skip the last steps to not spoil too much. But we managed to finish the game. With the bad ending!
Oops. We will try again later to figure out the good ending!

Okay, we were a bit dense: the blood can be wiped up after cutting oneself a bit.
Back in the crypt we quickly find the secret tunnel that leads to the dungeon where the boy is kept. A line of salt keeps him from leaving. We collect the salt and the boy is free. Now we only need to collect all items for the ritual.
We go back to the manor to look for the boy. In the chapel we meet Rosie and Cora. Rosie has an idea what we are up to and begs to take Cora with her, as she thinks we might turn on her. In this scenario we will agree to this. I bet that this is one of the forms that leads to a different ending…
@zorrobandito@aus.social no, it is very different compared to the MD version. I guess this version and the MasterSystem version might be the same.
