Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Everyone is stealing TVEnglish
11·2 months agolets be honest though. piracy used to be seen as this super complicated thing hackers did. now that the average grandma has tasted the sweet nectar of free media, nobody is going back. what the State doesn’t want you to know is that if enough people stop complying with laws, then they lose the capability to be able to enforce them. eventually- too many people won’t respect the laws and regardless of the consequences on paper there will be no consequence in practice. there are too few police officers in the united states- even with over policing and mass incarceration what it is, to be able to enforce this.
The market is just going to have to get realistic and realize that you can’t nickle and dime people in the era of mass market, high bandwidth, telecommunications.
the nvidia desktop version of bazzite didnt work with vulkan for me. it was still attempting to use mesa drivers for it. this was after debian where what i was trying to do required bleeding edge drivers which obviously wasnt going to work. then i just said fuck it and went with ubuntu like i have my entire linux career. you can hate on me, but it honestly works good enough

Honestly at least valve is doing great things for linux. in the end, many people have christian morals without being christian- as in they dont see the spectrum of gray and just want to push things into absolutes in terms of right and wrong. thats not how things actually are. valve is actively ending the windows/microsoft monopoly. if he disrupts enough we may see other people getting into the game of allowing compatibility layers being used with their software.
BEST case scenario gaming becomes agnostic in terms of hardware and software. We will be able to play shit on any generic system.
