You didn’t… If anything you’ve described something closer to OAuth or JWT. You’re just getting hit by people who don’t know how cookies actually work.

You know, you’re not going to get very far in any conversation when you just keep saying “he’s unelectable now” over and over.
IMO it’s not the “switch to Linux” sentiment itself that’s so tedious, it’s that it’s just so damn oversaturated. It’s like that guy who posted “if buying isn’t ownership then piracy isn’t stealing” like 20 times in one thread the other day. I 100% agree but OMG we get it, kindly stop saying the same damn thing over and over. It’s just annoying that every post even mentioning Microsoft or Google devolves into a sea of privacy complaints and FOSS evangelizing to the point it’s difficult to have any real conversations.
Seems I’ve picked the perfect time to get back into Mini-disc!
I’m with you. “Measure it yourself” is a bit of a non-answer. Sure, being able to measure things yourself is also a useful skill, but asking questions and having people with experience answer them is largely the point of places like this.
I have nothing to really add but I just want to say fuck Ajit Pai… Oooooo that felt good.
There is a disturbing amount of “but mah data” pearl clutching by a lot of very ignorant people in this thread.
Sure, boomers might not think about using an app to order fast food, but I would think anyone who cares about privacy also avoids restaurant apps.
