Who said they had a “burning hatred” of women? Most of the men in the focus groups who said that they wouldn’t vote for a woman wasn’t because they hate women but said things like, women were “too emotional”, would not be able to handle dealing with adversarial foreign leaders, or that it’s “just not appropriate” for a woman to hold the office of POTUS. Oh, and even some women also said that.
Just because burning fossil fuels is bad doesn’t magically make nuclear good, or somehow no big deal. The chance for a catastrophic accident mentioned in the meme is only one drawback (which is bad enough–get real, denial is not a strategy here). Just a few other issues:
the problem of what to do with the waste: no permanent solutions have yet been implemented and we’ve been using costly-to-maintain “temporary” methods for decades. Not to mention the thermal water pollution to aquatic ecosystems
the enormously out of proportion up front costs to construct the plants, and higher ongoing operation and maintenance costs due to safety risks in proportion to amount of power generated
the fact that uranium is also a limited resource that has to be mined like other ores, with all the environmental negatives of that, which then has to go through a lot of processing involving various mechanics and chemicals just to make it usable as fuel.
Anyway I’m not going to try and go into more detail on a forum post, but all this advocacy for a very problematic method of producing power as if it’s a simple solution to our problems is kind of irritating. At least I hope the above shows we should stop pretending it’s “clean energy”. We should be focusing on developing renewable and sustainable energy systems.

Unfortunately, all this is pretty much a backlash to that event.
There will be some good people wanting to run for office but we’ll never get to vote for them in the election in two years if they lose the primaries because enough of us didn’t support their candidacy and vote for them in the primaries beforehand.
Besides people who don’t engage at all, checking out and only showing up for the elections every 2-4 years is why we’re here today.
People complain they don’t have anyone good to vote for, but they’ve done nothing to help get good candidates and build support for them and/or vote for them in the primaries, which if they win the primaries would give voters an actual good choice in the general.
Just waiting to see who other people picked and then deciding not to vote for them because they don’t represent your needs makes no sense. Of course they don’t represent your needs, they represent the needs of the people who chose them.
Obviously we can’t all be (or want to be) involved in politics, but we can at least see who’s running in the primaries and try to get the best of those choices to win and be an option people will want to vote for in the general.
Sometimes we all just have to find out, if there’s to be any chance of getting them to stop fucking around. 😐

Wow, already in the first week. Expect to hear this joke periodically over the course of his term, each time getting slightly more seriously stated. By the third year, everyone will have heard it so much it’ll be accepted as a perfectly reasonable idea. And the media will help that along in how they report on it. This is the tried and true playbook and it will work, not only for this plan but for their other plans.
Take for example the planned mass deportations. They’ll start out with finding some people who have committed crimes (or they claim have), deport them and no one will object to that, it’s already how it’s done. As they move on to those whose crimes are not very consequential, like traffic tickets or whatever, if libs say anything against it, they’ll pounce on it and amplify stories how the libs are overreacting and want criminals to be left free and have open borders. Harping on any criticism in cases that are technically justified is key to getting the public used to pooh-poohing any dissent as they start escalating and going after the law-abiding (other than being here illegally ofc) immigrants, families with mixed status members, DACA/Dreamers, parents of children born here and thus citizens and deporting the children with them, etc.
When they talk about a “trifecta” in this context it means the presidency, the Senate and the House. That applies to both the national and State governments.
It’s for the best at this point, they own everything and everything that happens is on them and no one but them. trump can’t say, “oh the House is why I haven’t been able to do this or that thing I said I would do.”
