It’s a complicated problem. Part of it is that Amtrak is so broken that people wonder if it’s even fixable.

I recently went to a concert in another city for my birthday. I looked into what Amtrak options there were, because I get panic attacks in traffic, and they only offer overnight service, with a middle of the night swap from bus to train. It also would have cost $250 round trip for two tickets vs <$100 in gas to drive, and taken 12 hours vs the 7 to drive.

So instead of taking the extra time off work, we wound up driving, and I had multiple panic attacks instead.

Another part of the problem is that the US likes to talk about whether or not people deserve transit options. Like, my local bus only comes by four times a day between 6am and 6pm, but because I live in a low-income area, I apparently don’t even deserve a bench at the bus stop.

I’m nonbinary AFAB, and I personally think that accusations done through the legal system are rare, but I also think that social accusations and “jokes” about somebody’s character are much more common than we want to talk about.

Another thing that we don’t talk about, is that social accusations don’t only come from people you’ve slept with. My partner and I once had to deal with some guy spreading rumors that I was being repeatedly raped and am too brainwashed to leave. We had to cut a lot of people out of our lives because they spread the rumor without checking in on me at all. It seriously hacks me off that they called themselves “feminist”, while clearly not caring about the well-being of victims of sexual violence, because somebody that actually has feminist praxis would have offered help to an alleged victim. They didn’t actually care about women, just spilling tea. Turns out that guy was telling on himself anyways, because now his ex-wife has a restraining order against him, but the rumor still occasionally pops up in the most aggravating places.

And it’s infuriating, because I was raped by a boyfriend in high school, and molested by a babysitter as a toddler, but wasn’t taken seriously for either of those. Now people are so totally onboard to believe the fiction that I want it, and I can’t even.

During COVID, so I guess thats when it got started.

I used to work in a hotel, and they never provided any training about any of that.

This is another thing I love about my induction range. The burners themselves don’t get hot, so the kitchen heats up less than it did with my old stove.

I also kind of hate the rhetoric that a single vote doesn’t count. One of the local primaries this year came down to a difference of four votes.

I don’t know why it’s gotta be neurotypical vs neurodivergent anyways. My audhd partner is absolute shit sometimes at explaining things in a way that me, a person with a brain tumor, can understand. He’ll leave these gaps in his instructions because it seems obvious and intuitive to him, then get frustrated when I misunderstand.

Like, there was this time I was helping him cut some really long 2x4s, where the boards were long enough that it was off the saw table, which was making them bend and not cut right. So he had me go stand at the end and “keep them straight”, which I interpreted as keeping the end from drooping AND/OR wandering off course. He just wanted me to keep it from drooping. So he got irritated that we had to try a third time, snappy with me about clarifying questions, and I still don’t quite understand why keeping it from wandering off course was a bad thing.

Likewise, I’m also horrible at explaining things sometimes. My brain sometimes straight up forgets words, and I’m just over here hoping you can understand what I mean by “that thingie” and charades.

Agreed, it’s not so much about it being AI vs something else, it’s that the defense fabricated statements from the deceased and used that to influence the judge’s opinion.

Just think of all the fun stuff you can do with the paper ribbons you tear off! That absolutely makes up for any and all pain and suffering endured in the process!

Honestly, censoring the closed captioning is an accessibility nightmare, and you start wondering if they’re doing algospeak, or if they’re the kind of person who takes the same tone of voice with disabled people and toddlers.

People usually fall asleep around 3-4am, then we’d wake up and have brunch and maybe another one before everybody left in the afternoon, depending on other obligations at play.

Yeah, anything niche is mostly going to be porn, unfortunately. I make dollhouse miniatures, and the last time I went looking for stuff about it on peertube, it was 90% fetish content and 10% uploads from TV shows, nobody was actually making dollhouses.

Edit: Just looked again, they’ve gotten rid of the porn, now it’s just entirely stuff from a Netflix kid’s show. Still nobody actually making dollhouses.

Right, but the proposal in the article is “traffic fatalities is because traffic goes too fast, make them drive slower”, then they wonder why it’s not popular. It’s rare that I see proposals actually bringing forth things that would reduce the amount of traffic needed.
