Again, reading the announcement, it sounds like the advice the developer received in school was to use it. He’s realized now that it was a bad call.

The announcement suggests the developer wrote all the code, but used the slop robot to generate assets. Sounds like the issue is that making art assets actually takes skill, and is something most programmer types underestimate.

Taking the gloves off could mean a couple of things:

• putting lots of white people in camps / deporting them for disloyalty
• killing people and saying it’s because they deserve to die (as opposed to current false self-defense claims)
• replacing elected officials in ‘liberal’ areas by force / military style governance

Basically, they’re still at least pretending the rule of law sticks. They’re arguing against court orders, not ignoring them. Claiming legal reasons for killings (even if video evidence obviously doesn’t agree). Talking about how they have to get their act together for elections, not saying they’ll ignore them.

They desperately want it to be. The first time an ICE dipshit gets killed, they’ll feel like they can take the gloves off.

Your friend, unfortunately, is probably doing what’s she’s been told is the right thing. Convincing her otherwise isn’t just about reasoning with her, it’s also overturning a lot of things that make her feel like she belongs to her group of people.

Most people that mistreat others think they’re doing the right thing or are justified in some way. But peoples’ reasons don’t really matter compared to their actions. What she’s doing is being pretty terrible to you, even if she’s been told (or genuinely believes) that it’s an act of love.

If she doesn’t cut it out, you’re more than justified in finding other people to hang out with.

That might feel great for about four seconds. I imagine a boss that would get a kick out of scolding you in front of everyone would jump at the chance to fire you in front of everyone.

When I have an idea, it usually requires one or two pieces of information from the internet to implement.

So while I am still actively having that idea, I try to quickly open a browser tab on my phone and search for that thing. There, it can’t just disappear now!

I usually don’t scope someone’s history because of one bad comment, but yeesh. You’ve been here for one day and it’s just about 100% bad.

You have some good replies here, but I’ll add one piece. You’ve imagined a world where your primary characters are Good. No killing, just defensive armaments, all about diplomacy and exploration.

Consider, though, that interesting stories have conflict. Conflict needs to have consequences to the characters you’re following, or it’s not very interesting.

You’re describing a world that would probably be better to live in than that of Star Trek. But I’m not sure it would result in better stories.
