I feel like the tumblr post is aimed primarily at hormonal birth control and the like. This is what I had in mind writing my comment at least. I am not arguing in support of not using any birth control at all. The simplest and not much less safe method are condoms. Easy to use and basically no side effects.

Sure, the general “birth control is bad for you” message is not optimal. But the root of this misinformation are insights about the side effects coming up more or less recently. iirc one third to half of all women on hormonal birth control experience major side effects like headaches, nausea or mood changes. I can see how these significant findings combined with patriarchy awareness and associated anger led to exaggerated messages.
Nonetheless, I think people thinking more critically about birth control is a good thing as one should always consider both benefits and risks.

They could also choose not to. Also, I have never heard of any game not selling well due to piracy. It just leads to producers not earning quite as much money as they could theoretically (though it is debatable if pirating people really would buy the game instead of just refraining completely).

I am not sure, if memes alone contain enough information. When I do not understand an interesting meme, I look it up, so I learn from the context consisting of news (at least indirectly) not the meme itself.
I had a somewhat similar experience. Two years ago, I stopped playing video games when I noticed, I only did it by habit not because I enjoyed it so much. I remembered reading a lot when I was younger, so I picked it up again to fill my evenings.
It was hard at first. I wasn’t used to focus my attention like this anymore. But as you said, I learned to be patient over time. Now, I look forward to continuing my book every day! It is a great hobby to calm down and relax. As a side effect, my language skills (not english) improved a lot.

I get the reference, but this assassination will indeed lead to CEOs taking more safety precautions. As much as it might feel like a relief, another guy will just fill the position and nothing will change. It’s just a warning to the richest, that they need to be more careful, f. i., need to manipulate public opinions even more. Perhaps the health insurance companies will make more of an effort to keep their internal processes secret.
