I think this has been blown way out of proportion. There’s a trade-off being made between a tiny bit of saturation in exchange for significant improvement in terms of glare/reflections.
If you know you really want the ultimate image quality and don’t care about reflections, then glossy is for you. If you do care about reflections or take your Deck to environments where you don’t control the lighting, the etched glass will be great.
The majority of people won’t care and will be happy with whichever you get but the culture created around “always having the absolute best” has created a ton of stress (for lack of a better word) and concern for people.
Really it boils down to “do you want greatly improved glare reduction and slightly less saturated colors (and contrast) or do you want the best possible saturation/color accuracy in exchange for glare when you’re in certain environments” and all the side-effects that come with that choice. Personally, I’m going for the 1TB deck since I prefer the trade-off of slightly less saturation for less glare when traveling or in a place I don’t control the lighting in.
