1 year agoI was on a road trip vacation this summer when I ran over a bungee that punctured my tire. Drove around 30 miles on the flat at highway speeds searching for a shop to repair my tire on a Sunday since BMW roadside won’t do anything for runflats. Ended up plugging it myself, filling with air and driving over 2k miles that week.
As long as the sidewall isn’t torn from a pothole, absolutely no worries. The tires are engineered to dissipate the heat from driving on a flat.
Yes, I had a F01 (N63) I did the valve seals on myself and replaced some of the timing chain rails whilst everything was apart. Dealership wanted ~$25k for the job and I believe the estimate is around 40 labor hours. It was worth it for me to do the job myself, but I sold the car a year or so after.
Depending on the engine, you can check if there’s a recall or “customer car package,” but it may be unlikely you’re still covered.
