11 months agoEighteen months and three transfer windows, during which time Ten Hag’s been given considerably more control and influence than most managers preceding him. They look clueless tactically and personnel wise; that’s on him - his big signings, the guys he wanted, have mostly been a bust.
What I find most baffling about Ten Hag is that for a coach who is obviously big on accountability, he’s happy to let it slide for the bigger names in the squad. Sancho is a toenail who fully deserved to get dropped, but I can see his point about double standards when Ten Hag is hanging him out to dry whilst letting Bruno and Rashford play every minute of every game.
Chelsea signing Sterling. They literally had a front row seat for one of the worst performances in CL final history, watched Reece James pocket him for 90 mins (and in the FA Cup a few weeks before that too), and thought ‘yeah we’ll pay 55 million quid for that’.
