  • The US has always been kinda crappy. Look at who it picks fights with and look at who it generally avoids and you’ll learn a lot. Europe is better than them in so many ways and they know they’d get stomped if they compared themselves to most of the continent so they instead compare themselves to places that are a little more in line, often times because they themselves destabilized the region. Whenever Europe is mentioned it’s “oh, we couldn’t do that here because we’re different.”

Here in Canada we suffer the same problem except we compare ourselves to the US as our low bar.

  • You’ve already shown a flaw, which is that English inflections do not match other languages. “I will go” in English is not “Je irai” in French but rather some more like “moi, j’irai.” The sound of the voice also wouldn’t make any sense because different dubs will change to fit local stereotypes. In the states they will have someone sound like a redneck but in Germany they might lean into a Bavarian accent for the same effect.

With the low level of understanding demonstrated in your comment, plus the high level of confidence in your solution, you’re showing exactly why it’s a bad idea. Just pay voice actors and pay them enough that they will actually be of a certain quality instead of bitching that the dime-store VA people aren’t giving you top-tier performances.

Take the AI and throw it straight in the garbage. We don’t need it and we don’t fucking want it. All it does is cost more money to produce a product that only an ignorant, over-confident corpo thinks is any good.

  • These people are the kind to talk about how smart and great they are and that’s why they deserve hundreds of millions of dollars but also when all the studies show that four-day work-week would lead to increase productivity and a high quality of work they kick and scream like little babies.

They don’t know what they’re doing so they complain about the rules that make things hard. Why get good when you can just throw a temper-tantrum and then brag about how you finished Dark Souls without telling anyone that you played it on god-mode?

  • TL;DR: They are stupid and selfish.

People like that would rather sit in two hours of traffic and risk a parking ticket than take a subway for 30-45min. They specifically hate the very idea of public transport and they can’t even understand that public transit can be expanded without any disruption but infrastructure expansion for the personal vehicle requires insane amounts of destruction and disruption for incredibly little gain which is cancelled out by induced demand within a year.

In Montréal I know that driving is “faster”* but I still refuse to and leave my car parked. It’s just better, but I can also handle a small amount of walking outside and I’m not such a little baby that I feel immasculated by the metro system.

*It’s faster when Google Maps applies the longest wait and transfer times, and if there’s no traffic, and if you don’t account for warming up your car and then finding parking at your destination and then walking from your car to where you were trying to go.

  • I’ve been saying that what the world is seeing is not the good people but instead the tens of millions of awful people. That said, I spoke mainly to the people who want me to pity them and their country just because they think that they’re nice. I have spoken on the fact, in this thread, that I do not believe Canadians are above criticism but I would also argue against other Canadians trying to do the same escape-plan bullshit. This is the primary difference between us, I can accept that the effect my country has on itself and others is something that I am tied to and I don’t expect other people to put up with our collective nonsense just because myself and my friends are good people.

You have no self-awareness and refuse to hear anything that won’t make you a victim. It’s enbarrassing, and I hope you do not try to come to my country while thinking you’re some highly desireable paragon of morality. Congratulations on barely passing the minimum bar of decency, and I’m sorry that your country has warped your perspective so badly, but I don’t really want you here if that’s how you’re going to behave.

  • Your comeback is about predatory car loans…? Buddy we got all kinds of garbage here, especially bad shit imported from the US, and that was the first thing you jumped to? We also have a housing crisis that our leadership largely ignores, why not go after that?

I’ve already said, multiple times, that we are not doing great up here. The difference is that I can readily admit it but every time I say anything negative about the US one of you nasty weasels shows up and all you can do is deflect, deflect, deflect because you know that you have nothing to say.

The US is a shithole. Deal with it.

  • I think you guys need to understand that no one gives a shit about the good individuals you have if the outward effects of your country are so violent and disruptive. Like, I’m sorry for the good people who live in the States but the instution of the US and the 100+ million people who either zealously support it or don’t think it’s that big a deal are big fucking problems. And far-right groups export that ideology all over the world, especially to my culturally similar country, and I am in no way obligated to pity you while your country threatens the safety of my own and others.

I do not care how many of you are “on our side” because you are effectively useless. Strongly worded letters and some sanctioned protests do nothing for us when you’re largely too cowardly to stand up for yourselves in even the smallest of ways. The US is a shithole country, and I’m sorry you live there, but I’m not gunna change my tune just because reality makes you sad.

I also have very strong words for my own country along similar lines. At least I know how to admit it.

  • Their systems are killing them, their cops are killing them, their guns are killing them, their politicians are on record saying they hate them, their religious leaders are clearly stealing from them while they abuse their children, they hate traffic but refuse to do anything about including keeping cars but using roundabouts, and the propaganda that they claim is corrupting their minds is so pathetic that even a toddler should be able to see past it like it’s made of crystal-clear glass.

The reason I hate the US is because they have zero excuses and still fuck things up in so many obvious ways while anyone with more than a few braincells screams at them to please just stop chugging rat poison and all they can say is “but it’s different here, we aren’t Europe” as if that’s any kind of excuse.

  • I’m always astounded at the near universal human ability to act as though some demented fuckhead is some super wizard who forces them to do shit. Putin is just some guy, he’s largely useless and he wears stupid high-heels because he’s not even able to stand up to his own crap. Everyone could just start ignorning him tomorrow but they don’t.

Part of that problem is there are a lot of people who love to be thugs. They’re just broken losers who love taking orders that let them be mean to others and the world would be so much better with them as red paste on the sidewalk to be washed away by the rain.

  • The alignment system really isn’t that complex or strict. Lawful means you’re someone who generally holds to personal principles and chaotic means you go where the wind blows. Good means you do what’s best for everyone and evil means you do what’s best for yourself.

Chaotic Good would be the hardest one to wrap ones head around. That would be someone who wants to help people but isn’t really sure how. They don’t have a strong oath like a paladin and they don’t know if they should be nice everyone or if they should maybe be a little quicker to fight against the obvious bad guys.

Ultimately though, the alignment is system is something pretty well explained in the DMG, from what I remember, but with D&D people just look at poorly informed memes and then complain about how rules don’t even function in the actual book. Their ignorance is not the fault of the source material.

Otherwise I generally agree with what you’re saying. I would like to add that you can also create depth with character growth. A simple character is a fantastic starting point if you actually develop them over the campaign.
