  • I mean, I’m all for replacing physical items as it reduces physical plastic waste.

But it does put the onus on consumers to pay for the storage rather than the manufacturer and prices for digital are not any lower than physical so all it does is save the manufacturer money, not the consumer. If it resulted in a 10% decrease in game prices that would help.

The other issue however is that manufacturers do not guarantee a download will be available forever. If that were guaranteed there wouldn’t be an issue, as digital games often need to be re-installed if a bug or error occurs.

  • Just don’t overthink it. Grab some seeds and a bag of whatever soil fits your budget and get something growing.

Gets something growing and then branch off from there. Introduce fertilizer if you think you need it. We don’t bother. Soil longevity? You running a science experiment? Plant stuff. If you start to have issues, look up how to fix it then.

You won’t get the perfect 20 year garden right off the bat. Experiment, fail, learn, adapt.

  • I don’t even know why they charge such high prices.

I don’t work in academia but I am curious about thing and look up papers all the time.

I have never bought a single one at those ridiculous prices. But if they were reasonable like $1-$3 or something I probably would have an di imagine a lot of people would have.

You make more if 100 people buy a $1 item than 3 people buying a $30 item and the world benefits more.
