This argument drives me crazy. Companies, in this context, are the people. The companies pollute exclusively on behalf of their customers. WE ARE THE COMPANIES.

I managed to get one preordered and felt lucky in doing so but I think I would have managed to get one in person had I not gotten a preorder.

There will be disruption, but collapse due primarily to climate change is further away than 20 years.

What about retirement? Not continuing to save for retirement during your 20s and 30s is a recipe for absolute disaster for long-term stability. What about saving for a down payment for a house?
“Boomers” don’t like this because it seems incredibly short-sighted.

Hate to defend them, but that’s not really an accurate portrayal of what happened in 2024.
Biden should have announced he wasn’t running and allowed the primary process to play out. If he hadn’t, then the DNC should have overridden him. It’s unbelievable that they didn’t anticipate or care that Trump would win again.
We desperately need electoral reform. There’s no issue with moderates existing. The issue is that currently the choice is either moderates or fascists. And the fascists are quite adept at portraying the moderates as authoritarian communists.
NewNewAccount@lemmy.worldtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•Showing who's in chargeEnglish61·2 months agoThat’s OP’s claim.
No it’s not.
OP’s claim is that cults give nicknames. Not that all entities that give nicknames are cults.
But your second statement makes me realize that you likely have an inherent bias that is preventing you from seeing the logic involved.
NewNewAccount@lemmy.worldtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•Showing who's in chargeEnglish71·2 months agoOf course not. It is your interpretation that having a nickname implies cult membership that is the logical fallacy.
The argument is:
- If CULT, then NICKNAME
- i.e. If X, then Y
Your interpretation seems to be:
- If NICKNAME, then CULT
- i.e. If Y, then X
Which is the logical fallacy of affirming the consequent.

If X, then Y does not imply if Y, then X.
Only by certain definitions. Regardless, not all speculation is investing.
