  • I tried wine recently to see if I can get Total Annihilation to work. I played with Wine in the mid 2000’s and gotten office 2003 to run on Suse then.

OMFG the mess when I recently tried to just run a simple exe that doesn’t even need a full installation.

Adobe sadly don’t just make Photoshop which is a remarkably good product. Even more so with their new features. I use Lightroom and nothing that exists for Linux comes close. All that needs some serious GPU integration.

DaVinci resolve is amazing and a real alternative to Premiere. The problem I see is binary compatibility. Even Linus admits that the Linux desktop has a problem with that.

I do have high hopes for web tech to evolve enough to make cross platform a thing again. Maybe ChromeOS will help there. VS Code is a good example here. With WebGl Vulkan in the browser and OpenCL that should become viable soon.

  • I’ve had the “fortune” of reading quite a few pieces in religion class.

I don’t remember any brown substances in that violent fairytale book that many claim to follow, yet few read and even less understand.

It does have a lot of “colourful” sections especially in season 1. I’m not surprised if there are passages about 💩.

If there are any pointers I’d happily use them in discussions with evangelists.

  • E-Scooters and E-Bikes can and should be treated like their petrol powered equivalents.

Stay below a maximum power output. In Europe that max is 200w. They should be no more than assisted bicycles.

If you want to go a bit faster then you’re looking at a pedal assisted motorcycle. A MOPED (MOtor + PEDals). Those are limited to 45-50kmh.

If you want to go faster than even that, it’s a motorcycle. Just an electric one. Even with motorcycles you have a bunch of categories. In Europe the A1, A2 and fully open category.

We can open up new paths for A1 which are commonly used by deliver riders to encourage people to get away from car culture.

That would solve the whole issue of people people being idiots on them and the state can make a bit if income through licensing. I’d rather see that than an outright ban as we want smart regulation and innovation.
