  • I tried very hard on the Ally. Bought it and used it 4 days before returning it. These 4 days were a pure waste of time.

    • Setting, updating, everything was long and annoying. About 6h continuous work to get the device properly updated and ready to use.

    • For the games I wanted to play (Witcher 3, Assassin’s creed Origin & Odyssey) I had to set the Ally at its highest TDP to get better results than my Steam Deck. Witcher 3 is perfect on the Deck at a 9w TDP and gives me about 3h battery life. On the Ally I had to use the 25w profile to get slightly better graphics (partially because running in 720p didn’t give a good picture on the too high definition screen on the Ally). And then I only got 45mn at best of battery life.

    • The fan on the Ally was considerably lounder than on my Steam Deck.

    • Armory crate is unstable and unusable.

Finally I have the feeling that the Steam Deck has been designed by gamers for gamers and the Ally was designed by people who don’t game at all. A console is not only a specs sheet. For my use case the Ally is a complete failure except for is nicer look.
