I don’t recall paying you to have an existential crisis
I don’t recall paying you to have an existential crisis
Not exactly T-800s in the future is there?
The only way to really prevent World War II is to prevent World War I and to do that we would need to prevent the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and our own timeline made it pretty clear that he was destined to die that day.
I agree. I was referring more to how close we came in 2020 to having Trump again.
Then again one could argue the current situation is worse
Yes I know, hence the theoretically.
I’m literally just trying to keep myself sane here
I’m still working on it. I just started Uni so I’m unsure of how to go about it
Hell at this point civil war might be the best case scenario, worst case being they get their way.
Like I said, anything’s possible at this point. I’m just as scared of what’s to come as the next person.
Not a lot to argue about when the goal is to make as much money as possible by any means necessary
That’s also true, as disgusting as it is.
Pretty hard to fucking immigrate when lack of workers’ rights, underpaid employement, and the insane price of college education has left the vast majority of us flat fucking broke
I would love to, but what the hell are we gonna do? Starting a new nationwide party is practically impossible and. (Intentionally so, of course)
And as much as we can point fingers and say “the people can fix the two party system” we have seen on multiple occasions that without major election reform that simply isn’t the case. Most of the country’s voters are older, and as we have seen today and yesterday, most voters would rather not vote at all than vote outside their party’s lines. The only reason third parties are even allowed to exist in the US is to either give the illusion of choice, or to spoil elections (as some argue happened in 2000, on top of all the other things fucked up with the 2000 election)
Let’s get AOC to run. She’ll be old enough next time 'round.
It’s clear the “catering to moderates” strategy has been a catastrophic failure. I say we change gears and actually put up a candidate that isn’t going to try and “play both sides.”
AOC hasn’t been afraid to criticize her party’s decisions, I think she could take the platform Bernie Sanders took and actually make some progress.
Problem is, the DNC would actually need to fucking cooperate instead of falling into their same old tried and failed ways, unlike they did with Bernie both times he ran. I don’t see that happening, and as always, third parties aren’t really an option.
Thepretically they would need 34 states to sign off on that as a constitutional amendment, and theoretically even SCOTUS would have a hard time defending that,
But at this point who knows. The future is uncertain as ever, but it’s certainly not looking great.
Almost anywhere in Europe would be nice, but Ireland sticks out to me.
They’re part of the EU, and they primarily speak English, so the language barrier wouldn’t be as bad. (though I’d be happy to study Irish/Gaeilge)
As for politics and/or the economy there, I don’t know much, but I am pretty sure they haven’t elected a fascist who’s quoted Hitler.
I know. I’m scared, too.
“What a four years, huh?”
“Captain, his term hasn’t started yet.”
Underground railroad anyone?
Seconded
Kinda hoping they come knocking soon. I’m sick of this shit.
Are ball pits still a thing? I don’t think I’ve seen one in a decade at least.
