  • Manual, then EV 1 pedal driving, then auto ICE. I first learned on manual and drove it daily until i gave that car away. Still have other manual cars that I drive often, as well as an auto and an EV. I far prefer manual because it’s much more fun, makes you significantly more focused and a better driver, and you can get better fuel economy if you know what you’re doing. As for traffic, no it’s not bad. For those who are discouraged by that rumor, if I can manage an 80’s 911 with an extremely heavy clutch in start stop traffic, the manual cars that 99% of people daily are easy.

I prefer an EV with strong regenerative braking over ICE autos for the same reason I like manuals: you have more control and can modulate your speed much more precisely. It can also feel similar to engine braking with a manual, which you won’t get in an auto. Once you get used to it, it’s a very smooth and pleasant driving experience. I know some people are afraid of having both EV and ICE because they think they may forget how to brake in the gas car after using one foot driving, but I have never had that happen to me. It’s always an instant transition to the brake pedal in the gas car, even directly after I’ve been driving the EV. However I have stomped my left foot into the floor in the EV before😂
