Not The Onion@lemmy.world•ICE plans to give officers gloves that can deliver painful electric shocksEnglish
5·1 month agoMy first thought was the Babylon 5 slaver gloves. I mean they’re already the villains. might as well go full evil.
Saw this awhile back and kinda rolled my eyes. I see the appeal of the idea, but the execution seems unnecessarily complicated for little gain. The space one is even worse, the sheer amount of fuel to lift that kind of weight is just a stupid waste.
::golf clap::
Agrees to the first sentiment, BS on the second. Don’t accuse people of things unless you can prove it. Or at least provide more than your gut feeling because “you can tell from the pixels”.
You be whomever you need to be. 👍

I pick up a bunch of on sale the next week and they’re still sitting in the fridge a week later. But now the eggs are all gone. ::eyeroll::

Technology@lemmy.world•Gamers push back: 71% say they’re not ready to let physical games die as PlayStation and Xbox move toward a digital-only future”English
2·2 months agoFolks like me love Steam because I have a huge backlog, and don’t care if I play the latest thing as soon as it comes out. Combine that with their sales every few months let me pick up older games at a steep discount, without having to deal with a Gamestop.

17·2 months ago::eyeroll:: 71% percent of people we asked an obvious leading question, but mostly already buy their games online and will mindlessly buy all their yearly copies of FIFA, Maden, and CoD regardless.
I mean, I hate Sony and this BS too, but the stink over this “change” is complaining about a horse that left the stable years ago.
Seriously! I think he beat the cancer unconscious with his bare hands.

Hmm, she makes one comment about the town being poor and provincial, a couple about wanting more out of life, and then the rest of it is the towns folk saying she’s “pretty but weird” and Gaston saying “she’s mine.”
I think this analysis stinks.

Games@lemmy.world•The $950 Steam Deck Apparently Isn't Too Expensive, As it Sold Out in Under 24 HoursEnglish
241·4 months agoThis may be my pessimism talking, but I feel like PC and Console gaming are probably both going the same route as Disney Theme Parks. If you have to ask how much it costs… If you aren’t willing to blindly shell out too much for too little… Gaming won’t be for you anymore. When it boils down to it, these things are luxuries. They’ve found their latest “limited production” excuse (AI gobbling up SSD, GPU, and RAM production) to pump up cost and there’s definitely excess demand. Or at least enough scalpers willing to take that risk. Sure the cost spike will probably come back down some once the bubble pops, but if they keep selling out, then why would they ever lower the price again?

4·4 months agomore of a misheard lyrics, but the song “The Freshmen” by the Verve Pipe hits a bit different if you thought they were singing:
For the life of me, I cannot remember What made us think that we were wise and we’d never compromise For the life of me, I cannot believe We’d ever die for these sins, we were merely flesh then
I had to go look this up, hoping it was real and not an ai fake. turns out the artist has done a bunch of these!
I enjoyed this series as a teen, many years ago. Wasn’t until a few years ago that I found out the author and his wife were scumbags of the highest order.

looks like Schwalbe makes some MTB ones. not sure what size you’re looking for.
