I’m really bad at bios.
Uhh hi I’m Shelby! I’m a trans woman from New York. My interests are fashion, photography, tech and music. So you can expect most of my posts to be about those topics. I pretty much only comment if I have something positive or constructive to say. I’m kind of a golden retriever girlie, so don’t be afraid to reach out. I’m always friendly to respectful people.
This is a kinda alt account for FRYD@sh.itjust.works I’m probably gonna migrate over to this being my main account at some point.

LLMs are not intelligent. They lack morals, knowledge, and intent. The only remote risk of extermination is if a company with absolute impunity and endless resources told an LLM to hack the nuclear weapons and if knowledge of how to do that was already published online and processed as training data.
LLMs cannot do anything new, they can only regurgitate information thats already been stolen.

Ed Zitron’s podcast “Better Offline” recently talked about this. There is a small tech community called the Rationalists who believe AI super intelligence is inevitable and it will either accelerate humanity to new heights or kill off the species. These rationalists are actually a very prominent faction within tech and the AI industry. Apparently the language used within top AI firms is largely about the immense danger posed by AI super intelligence if any other group or company were to achieve it first. This creates an echo chamber that makes the people in the industry kind of lose their mind and misinterpret the capability of LLMs.
Everyone outside that faction recognizes that LLMs are just unreliable cloud software with limited use cases and that there’s no evidence LLMs could actually lead to any kind of intelligence.
Edit: Please, someone stop me from commenting on an AI post next time I’m tempted. I’m so tired of people replying, arguing with opinions I don’t have, based entirely around a hypothetical technology that doesn’t exist yet. LLMs make slop. Thats it. They hacked a company after weeks of 100s of instances being run, using old exploits published online. San Francisco will be underwater from climate change before LLMs can do anything more.

yeah I did realize that after thinking about it. Still I’m not sure. I guess it depends on what that experience is like.

Well I imagined we were talking about an imaginary sci-fi technology. Obviously it would be more complicated and possibly at risk for some kind of manipulation in real life. If I were presented a teleporter where the only fault is a philosophical question about being a copy, then I don’t mind being a copy and my original self dying.

So what? There would be persistent awareness. The new me would remember everything up to the old me’s death and keep living. I’m fine with that.

I have no idea what you mean lol

I’d use a teleporter with no hesitation. What’s important is my memories and sense of self, not the actual meat it’s in. I could find out I’m a copy of myself right now and not be bothered.
Yeah I got that result on google translate too, but the kanji or hanzi symbols it picks out are wrong.

Ideally I’d want the fat in my butt and chest and not my around my liver lol

Yeah I know, I’m bad American. A trans woman who excerises regularly and doesn’t consume much sugar. I was just considering milk, but I worry a bit about taking in too much calcium. I have bad kidneys and get stones pretty frequently. I’ll have to talk to my dr before I try that one.

Yeah one of my gym friends said to drink a lot of mass gainer, but that stuff is like $100 a bucket. I’ll look into making a diy version though

I do eat breakfast, but I don’t take lunches at work. So I have an egg sandwich and a coffee in the morning and then try to eat as much as I can from 4p-11p.

I plan to, but my next consult isn’t until like october or november. I don’t have a pcp

Real, but sometimes they know some secrets

If I had to pick one, it’s my Gameboy. I use that the most.
There’s also: probably half of my books, most of my cameras, my old consoles, my sewing machine, and there’s probably more stuff. I’m kind of obsessed with old things.
Damn, looks great! I’m actually so addicted to thrifting. I go to like 3 stores a week and I’m constantly scrolling depop.
I got a union job and made the bed in my car nice and comfy
