There is no center in the US. If you’re okay voting for Donald Trump, you are not in the center. That’s entirely the point.

It’s also dumb to just assume that foreign companies can just flip a switch and start building/assembling whatever they sell in America. You need facilities, you need to hire employees, you need to train employees. You can’t just pick up your factory, drop it in Kansas, and just slot people into the building to work it right away.
Centrism can win in places that aren’t America. Too many Republicans are being fed propaganda all day long by Fox “News”…an organization that has argued in court that no one should take them seriously. But that’s where they get their news. They’re also indoctrinated by their religious upbringing from Evangelicals. There is no such thing as a moderate Republican anymore. They have shown that they will vote every time for the Republican candidate regardless of how flawed they are. Trump is a convicted felon that tried to overthrow the government, has been found in a court to be a rapist, was best friends with Jeffrey Epstein, has had numerous failed businesses and bankruptcies, has denigrated our troops. NONE OF IT MATTERS. Stop trying to appeal to the right and actually get your voting base excited about the policies you want to push.
But every sector has been ravaged by the stock market changes.
You just don’t know what you’re talking about. The S&P 500 is up like 25% over the same period. You’re just buying into specific sectors. Don’t do that. Buy market index funds or target date funds and stop trying to actively manage your retirement account. Also, you haven’t lost anything in value because you haven’t realized the losses by cashing out. It’s better for you currently if things are a lower price because you’re buying them at a discount.
I could never get along with GNOME. Everything feels too on rails. If you want the workflow that GNOME has, it’s fantastic. But if you ever want to go outside of what they have set up, it constantly feels like you’re forced back to their style.
If that’s Saddam Who’s Sane, where Saddam Who’s Insane?
I used to use it solely for sports news updates. Once Elon bought it, kept constantly getting politics news that I didn’t want. Kept adding blocked terms hoping to not see it anymore. Nope. Kept getting pushed right wing bullshit. Deleted and never looked back. It helps that people have actually moved to Bluesky. The biggest issue I have is with Reddit and Lemmy not having the sports communities here. Game threads for Orioles games had 0 comments. I’m not going to just sit there and post to myself.
I had tried Plasma 5 in the past and I just don’t think I put enough time into figuring out how to customize it. It wasn’t as intuitive to set up the desktop layout as Cinnamon was. Wanted to test it out when KDE6 came out and loved it. Switched from Endeavour back to Mint due to some instability on Arch (a couple kernel updates broke bluetooth which my mouse and keyboard are both bluetooth) but wanted to get back with KDE so testing out Tuxedo. It’s really nice thus far.
The only thing I need a Chromium based browser for is casting my totally legit streams of sporting events to my TV.
A great use of plastic…
Talk about a gross mischaracterization of what is actually said in that blog post. You made it seem like Firefox is getting rid of ad blocking which is far from the truth of what that post says. It doesn’t even mention ad blocking. Maybe don’t editorialize a post and present it as fact.
Waterproofing is very difficult with a headphone jack
Something I have heard in the past but is a headphone jack that much harder to waterproof vs a USB-C port? I’m genuinely curious because I don’t know. It feels like the two would be of a similar difficulty.
I mean, machine learning and AI does have benefits especially in research in the medical field. The consumer AI products are just stupid though.
But they also seemingly worship grown men like Trump and Musk who have nothing better to do than complain about how they’ve been wrong on Twitter and Truth Social. Like seriously, if I had the amount of money that Elon does, you’d never hear from me because I’d be busy doing cool shit and not posting on Twitter. Like how lonely is his life?
I just don’t understand how these people are so upset at every single little thing and it’s not just upset about it, they think that every thing they don’t like is a personal affront to them. Like it’s gotta be exhausting to constantly be that upset.
Yeah, I’m not saying it’s not a good practice, but I just don’t see them doing it.
You don’t want crypto, don’t use it.
I use Brave as my Chrome based browser when not using Floorp but there were other issues with Brave in the past like injecting their affiliate links unbeknownst to users so they could make money off them. They have reverted that decision but that they thought it was acceptable in the first place leaves some to question, rightly, what other shenanigans they might pull. They’ve also had issues with paying out Creators BAT tokens.
Now they will be forced to look at ads.
I’m pretty sure they would’ve been seeing ads anyways. I doubt that school IT administrators had uBlock Origins as an extension that was being installed and I really doubt they didn’t have the chromebooks locked down so students could install whatever extensions they wanted.
Thanks. I was legitimately confused by Minecraft because I never saw anything negative added to Java edition but I’ve never played Bedrock. Minecraft keeps pumping out free content updates so they seem like a good example of what to do for a company.
