So what is the “right” way to use them?

So long as they are helping the “downtrodden”* it’s ok to see the numbers differently?

I have studied statistics. In my studies I learned that numbers do not lie, people lie. And, as was stated before, people can manipulate numbers to match their narrative.

I’ve seen studies published as “fact” just because the author manipulated the numbers to match their findings.

This is what we should base our outlook on?

*in this instance, “downtrodden” refers to the person or group deemed savable by those who are looking to be a savior.

So…statistics are only valid when they promote your ideals?

Or is it that, in your mind, the stats that don’t run parallel with your ideals have obviously been misinterpreted or fudged?

Don’t try applying logic here. There is a small sect of people who believe they are the majority (and therefore right), because their views are blasted on small social media sites. Sites that they went out of their way to find in order to confirm their feelings, viewpoints…biases.

Not only is this thought process incorrect, it’s also keeping them a prisoner to their own confirmation bias.
